  1. I've only just turned on; what was it for?
  2. SAVAGE GEAR Salt CCS Rod 20-60g 7'6" salt resistant eyes, Toray carbon blanks fast action I've had a couple of these and the blanks are superb. Great caster and makes a nice heavier lure rod for the sea as well as a nimble rod for canal fishing for pike. I think I've used it twice as I prefer baitcasters from the kayak, so good to go to a new home. In A1 condition £60 ono plus postage
  3. I get owners love them, but surely something would have told them this wasn't right. He's had to shed the weight of a big labrador! Obese Cheshire dog gets new home and sheds five stone - BBC News And with new owner, the vet who adopted him.
  4. Aha. I just realised I'd misunderstood! There are no holes on the top and bottom faces. By holes at both ends I meant holes in the back - top and bottom. That makes more sense; I'd assumed all cabinets had holes top and bottom on the back and wondered why some would only have holes at one end of the back! But you meant holes in the bottom face to allow you to bolt to the floor.
  5. I've noticed exactly the same, but it's nae bother. Lifting a touch as I'm turning the key seems to the job. All installed and secured. Thanks for the replies one and all.
  6. I moved in to my partner's house at the beginning of 2020...But the gun's not been here all that time. It's been in the cabinet bolted to the wall in my parents house. Renting and guns aren't always happy together, so it was easier to leave it there and pick up the gun when I was on a shoot than move the cabinet around Oxfordshire. The gun only came down this weekend
  7. Thanks chaps. I felt like that'd be the case, but wanted to make sure. There are bolt holes top and bottom, but the gap between the holes and the end is only an inch different for top compared to bottom, so that shouldn't be an issue.
  8. After moving house, I've finally got round to installing the gun cabinet. The best (potentially only) spot on an appropriate wall is in a walk-in wardrobe. The plasterboard's removed and I'm bolting onto the wall, the position is fine...however access to the cabinet will be a beggar because the door opens on a right hand hinge, which blocks the cabinet somewhat. If I installed the cabinet upside down, would that be a problem? Obviously the keys would then work back to front and the foam rifle supports inside would be a bit low, but that can't be beyond the wit of a man to correct! But is there any special security reason why a cabinet needs to be the right way up? I should add, right now this is overkill. In the cabinet is just a sub12 air rifle, so doesn't need to be up to FAC standards, but I have permission on a farm, so an upgrade and FAC isn't beyond the realms of possibility, so if I site the cabinet properly now, it'll save time later. Much obliged!
  9. Distressingly, I showed it to my non-shooting partner, who didn't even know Browning were a shooting company and she spotted the deer immediately
  10. You're welcome! Not the only one then! It just never occurred to me that it could have been a deer, until I saw this! We can hit it alright...just no guarantee we know what it is we're aiming at!
  11. That's pretty cool. So much so - and I REALLY shouldn't admit this but - it's actually made me realise what the Browning logo actually is! I don't shoot rifles or shotguns, so Browning's not in my shopping window, but I've never understood why their logo was a chap with his arm bent and really crazy hair... On yours I can see the deer it's meant to be. I should probably leave pigeonwatch for this admission 🤦‍♂️
  12. Covid infection on 14th December is the basis for the exemption Djokovic: Covid infection gave him vaccine exemption, lawyers say - BBC News I'm not sure how he's different to the Czech player who's already leaving in similar circumstances, but I guess we'll find out...
  13. One's a gonner! Czech tennis player Renata Voracova (ummm....who?) Has had her exemption dumped and is flying home. I think this snowball's only just begun its roll...
  14. Firstly. If his medical exemption is in order and it's for genuine reasons, then he should be allowed to play, as medical exemptions do exist and are for legitimate conditions. HOWEVER. I would love to know what medical condition the fittest sportsman on the planet has that stops him getting a vaccine because it must be something pretty extraordinary to not let him have a jab, but still allows him to go 5 hours at full tilt with Federer or Nadal on the other end of the court! If he gets booted out because he's found to have played fast and loose with the rules, I'd find it hilarious. He's always thought he only gets grudging respect but not what he really craves. Federer gets it. Nadal gets it. Even Murray gets it. In short, he's just a just a boy standing in front of a crowd asking it to love him...But it never seems to happen Bless. Time for Novax Djokovic to start booking plane tickets
  15. Plus, what's there to shoot? Penguins hardly provide much of a sporting target!? The woman's done well. Britain used to be so well known for walking around in freezing places, so it's nice to see the tradition's being kept alive. Well played indeed
  16. Savage Gear CCS Salt 7-28g 8'6". In A1 condition and comes with sleeve. It's had very little use, so might as well move it on to someone who can use it! Salt corrosion resistant rings, a fast action and a good all rounder. Excellent write up here: Savage Gear Salt CCS Lure Rod – Review (RRP £79.99) – South Devon Bass Guide £60. Snowbee 4 piece travel rod 8-35g 8'6" in great condition. Comes in hard tube. Casts well at the light end, but has a stiff backbone and works surface lures very well. £70 I can post, but the SG might be tricky as it's only 2 piece
  17. except the tech doesn't work. And bloods don't show up everything anyway. And then there are the times when it's inconclusive, or borderline And every five years is too long a window; in the vast majority of cases, it'd show nothing at all and then the patient would get ill in the 5 year gap anyway. This didn't start off as a fraud. It was hoped they could develop the tech that would make the company a success and save millions of lives. But they couldn't get it to work, so it basically descended into a whopping pyramid scheme
  18. She did it by being a technical idiot. She was completely naive and hopelessly out of her depth. At the beginning. Then it all got criminal when she tried to ride it out! To an extent, it's Silicon Valley's fault. Very much a case of 'Ooooh shiny new thing! I invest!' 'As do i!' 'Huh. This is popular I must invest too' 'Umm...Has anyone actually checked if this is even possible? Oh who cares, I invest!' No one really checked properly to see if it was all feasible. So once someone thinks it's a good idea, investors pile in so they don't miss the bus. Muppets. Parting fools with their money Her lawyers tried to portray her as innocent and hapless at business, which she is...but she would also have known the tech wasn't working, but she kept riding the tiger... Useless, mad and criminal. What a combination...
  19. No mention of their age, but the reports say girls and not women. None of us were paragons of common sense all of the time when we were young.
  20. This one's controversial. For the vast majority of occasions it works fine, but there have been high profile errors - and errors that aren't explainable, which is even more concerning. Keswick MRT were called out by a couple who'd come across a lone walker with a suspected broken ankle and fired off their (correctly written) W3W, which put them near Braithwaite. Phone tracking tech told a different story and they were found near Green Gable - ten miles away! Base Brown (9) - Keswick Mountain Rescue (keswickmrt.org.uk) A researcher found thousands of examples where the codes were incredibly similar and close together ( circle.goal.leader and circle.goal.leaders are less than 2km apart along the River Thames) but more concerning are the ones like stream.rivers.abode and steam.rivers.abode both in South Yorkshire but 50km apart - enough of a time lag for a serious casualty to go from a serious casualty to a fatality before the error's understood and corrected. App used by emergency services under scrutiny - BBC News It's also predicated on using your smartphone and having enough signal to access data to load the app - and for your phone to have an accurate enough position to give the correct W3W. And it works in 2d, so if the position is wrong by half a km as the crow flies, that could easily put you on the wrong side of a mountain to your rescuers and so completely invisible and several miles away from being accessible to them. It works for a lot of situations, but if you're going into remoter areas, where signal's patchy and rescue difficult, having a full understanding of how to give co ordinates and a separate device to give it to you so you're not relying on your phone's battery to constantly give you position, is a far better option. Then you can give both!
  21. As above. Well padded and in good condition. one external pocket that has two internal pockets. 45" x 14" Happy to post, but buyer to pay extra £40 HW110 not included...
  22. Better magnets, I'd guess? Looks fun!
  23. It's fine. You're just finishing the old one moaning. You've got 42 minutes to pour all your bile into one thread before 2022 makes you a new man... Full of the same righteous anger.
