You are correct they do not date rocks by carbon dating but use isotopic decay using a method called argon-argon, but it also depends on the type of rock, igneous rocks Sedimentary rocks, Metamorphic rocks.

If these people will walk into a large department store in the middle of the day and grab armfuls of designer coats from the rail and then calmly walk out, then what chance as a remote farm yard got, land mines maybe! What amazes me is why there is not more livestock thefts, lamb being a prime target.

Looking at the cave painting from around the world one thing that seems to be common in them is, they all have large black eyes, some wearing what appears to be helmets, now considering some of these cave paintings are 10 thousand years old and older, how did humans around the world paint similar pictures?

You are more than likely correct but in what form, "there's life out there Jim, but not as we know it", the missing thing is proof!

Like my post about UFO's and one comment that rings true and that is most people have mobiles with a built in camera, still/movie, i have yet to see one that is convincing, but it is possible that big cats have been released into the wild.

Thanks for the link, had a look and its interesting but just like the stories of people being abducted by aliens it is just someone's word who is possibly out to make a buck. Like I said, proof, when I see a spaceship land and aliens step off it then I will truly believe in aliens and not the possibility of aliens, I am very open minded and believe there is life on other planets but until I see proof with my own eyes it will just be stories, just like my own encounter.

The posts seems to have strayed a little from my original post but that's the nature of any forum topic, that's not a moan but an observation. So it seems from reading some of the post that some of you have seen UFO's. Well as we have now moved into the realms of aliens, I have a very open mind when it comes to subjects like this so its interesting to here other people opinions. here are a couple of things to get your head around. A thought about religions/god, is it possible they/he were aliens from another planet? Strange but most of the things that have been shown in old sci-fi TV (star trek) and Movies have come true. I am not sure as are most people if life exists on other planets (good possibility) but one thought is, in the distant future the war between us and "aliens" from another planet will be our own kind (humans) that have colonised another planet many years ago and become far more advanced than us on earth.

Its a subject that's always fascinated me, don't know if other life is out there but I had an encounter that I could not explain, as the title says UFO, I just thought I would ask level headed shooters for their own sightings, if any, we do spend more time outdoors than the average Joe public so we are more likely to spot things.

I will not tell you where I was, needless to say I was outdoors, it was late afternoon about 5:30-6:00 on a clear bright sunny day in June 1970, I was looking into the sky facing north about a mile or so away I could see a bright glowing round object that was stationary in the sky, just thought it was a plane with the sun glinting on it, ten minutes latter it was still there, now I am a very sceptical person but this thing intrigued me, just then it shot across the sky and was now stationery at 90 degrees to the point I first spotted it, (about 3-4 miles) it moved so fast it left a white trail in my eyes, a bit like someone waving a sparkler at night, after about two minutes in this position it shot back to where I had first spotted it, I was now totally transfixed, I watched it for about three minutes and then it just shot upwards and disappeared into the blue sky again leaving a white trail in my eyes. like I said I am a very sceptical person and take a lot of convincing on things like this, but as most shooters spend a lot of time looking into the sky its possible they have seen a similar sight.

So you have not seen one?

As we spend a lot of time outdoors I wonder how many people have genuinely seen a UFO, and just how clear was it?

Show me a copper that understands the law relating to this, ok you might get some anti phoning the Police and telling them about the general licence and that someone is breaking the law relating to this licence, but if the Police do turn up I think all they will ask you is, do you have permission and can I see your SGC. Does anyone know of a shooter that as been prosecuted for breaking this grey area rule?

I've been shooting pigeons (amongst other things) for 50+ years and I can tell you one thing, no one really understands pigeons, and that includes me.

Could the reason for the high number of shots fired be the unleashing of months of training (dry runs) then when the opportunity comes for firing live ammo at real live terrorists (not cardboard cut-outs) they just let rip. A friend of mine was in the royal marines and we talked about his training, he told me that the training takes you to such a heightened state you cannot wait to get into the thick of it and let some rounds off, just a thought.

Hope not, I remember the 1963 and 1978 winters, pigeons dyeing every where, sad sight.

In the light of the attacks in Paris and the French security forces raids this morning should we now be thinking of stopping anyone returning to the UK/Europe who as gone to Syria and what are their legal rights to return? My own feelings is we should make it 100% clear that if you go out to Syria you will not be welcome back.

Don't think it will effect sporting guns, don't think a .22 rim fire is the terrorists first choice in weapon, one thing this attack might do is make the general public more jumpy when they see someone hiding in an hedgerow with a gun wearing como gear.
