there are 5 of us that use cobra mt975 walkie talkies when we are out wildfowling. they are much handier than a mobile for letting the other person know that there is birds coming from behind him or waiting till he has got his jacket off and his waders half off in the wind and rain about to take a wizz and then telling him there is birds coming towards him  . its good too just for the crack when sitting apart waiting for birds to come.
  3. we dont have a game dealer here in shetland so 99.9% of the rabbits shot here are wasted, which i hate, but the rabbits have to be shot as they are a huge problem almost every where on the isle. i was looking in to shipping rabbits south to a game dealer like they used to years ago, i.e when my dad was a boy. i am wondering if any of you guys could recommend a game dealer that you sell rabbits too that i could contact and see about shipping rabbits down too. also, how much do you get per rabbit? my dad used to send rabbits down to bookless brothers in glasgow but i am not sure if they are still on the go. the last i heard about bookless brothers was that they would send up a chilled container but would only do it if you could guarantee 500 rabbits, which could be done with a few guns. any help or ideas on my plan would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, aister.
  4. nice bag, well done buddy. its worth the wait for when it all works well. :good:
  5. i moved this post to general shooting matters
  6. most of the down can be rubbed off with your thumb when you are plucking then i put meth in a tobacco tin lid and light it then just pass the bird over till all the down is synged. all the synged down is then washed off at the end.
  7. nice shootin buddy :good:
  8. not a thing the misses likes done in the kitchen
  9. i dont have a method as such, just plucked by hand then the down is taken of with some meth yes its mallard
  10. sorry i didnt get back but our broadband has been down for a couple of days. no longer than half hour each should have them done.
  11. shame they cant all be as clean shot as these three. cant wait to get them in the pot  .
  12. can anyone recommend a good taxidermist? i shot a nice clean cock teal today, no broken bones or missing feathers and would like to have it stuffed and mounted, instead of stuffed and eaten  . thanks in advance, aister
  13. just had a look on guntrader and the cheapest single trigger 3" side by side is a fausti at £700. you might pick up a yildiz or a webley second hand in your price range if you look around as they too fit your needs
  14. he guts and skins too but the useless #### cant cook to save himself
  15. no its the bdl in 30-06. as you say the barrels and especially the actions are great, its the starting point for a lot of custom rifles. when i got mine there was a lump of wood between the fore end and the barrel which meant it wasn't free floating, i chisseled that away and accuracy improved and when i fitted the hogue stock it improved again. i could have lived with the trigger but after fitting timmny triggers to my .22 and .17hmr and seeing the difference it made i got one for the 30-06.
  16. yes, i prefer open sights on the .22 because its usually all close range, i think the furthest away one today was a whoping 15 yards away!
  17. confront THEM tomorrow morning with the 12 gauge :yp:
  18. the remington i have for sale just now was surprisingly bad out of the box. the best i could get at 100yards was 2"+ but after fitting a timmny trigger and a hogue stock it now groups sub moa with 180gr privi. if you read all the bull #### advertising from remington you would think it was the mutts nuts but compaired to the browning, which is a cheaper gun, and other rifles i have seen/fired it was a bit disapointing. IMO
