  1. we have had hardly any snow this winter but this morning out of the blue it snowed a few inches, bairns and hound as high as kites, just a couple of pics of them out playing.
  2. well done buddy, good selection of birds. i have only shot 1 pintail before and it was a pintail x mallard, lovely big colour photo of it in the wildlife section of our local paper taken the day before i shot it :yp: :yp: :yp:
  3. i use a sheet of steel 40"x40" and paint it white with cheap emulsion, shoot it and paint again. i usually shoot it, mark on my 30" circle take a pic, paint it and go again then do all the counting and head scratching indoors at the computer.
  4. i have a .223 a-bolt and a 700 bdl in 30-06, i know they are two very different calibres but accuracy wise the a-bolt wins over the 700. i have had to do nothing to the a-bolt and it is very accurate with factory ammo where as the 700 was not very accurate out of the box, it now has a hogue stock and timmny trigger, both of which made a big difference to the accuracy, (not so much the trigger but certainly the stock), but it is still not as accurate as the a-bolt. if i could have both calibres in either browning or remington they would both be browning.
  5. i once got given a side by side that needed the barrels re done and for a laugh i had it powder coated bright metalic blue with glitter mixed in, (it was a friend of mine who was setting up a powder coating buisness who wanted to try out the colour) i wildfowled with it for a season and can honestly say that it made no difference, i think the important thing is not to move till you have to.
  6. well done buddy, love the pic of the two labs :good:
  7. i got on really well with winchester laser, not as fast as you are looking for though.
  8. totaly agree with that, i shot olympic skeet with my 120 for a laugh sometimes and admititly it was not as fast as an over and under but there wasnt much in it. i bought a remington pump and could not get on with it at all because with the winchester i held back gently on the fore end and it seemed to cycle itself almost but with the remi any backward preasure on the fore end and it would stick, wish i still had my 120.
  9. yeah, but kowing my luck the shell would fall out or i would drop it with the excitement of it all
  10. for the grant of a shotgun cert its £50 and for renewal its £40 and its valid for 5 years. best of luck buddy, let us all know how you get on in the future :good:
  11. the one thing i really liked and miss about the pump compaired to a semi was being able to have the slide half back when it was loaded, a bit like a broken but loaded side by side, its safe till a bird comes over then all you have to do is shut it. with a semi its not as easy, its either loaded or not. hope this makes sense
  12. crackin stuff, well done. :good:
  13. there is a nice bettinsoli on guntrader for £350
  14. earlier on today i filled out a variation form and applied for a 22 hornet and a 6.5x55. i had a slot for a 17hmr but after getting in to reloading and reading up on the hornet i decided to go for the hornet and lose the hmr. i had an hmr before and the biggest problem for me was that here in shetland we dont get many wind free days/nights to get the most out of the hmr.

  16. i did a couple of hours carpentry work last night for my RFD and for my efforts he gave me this T Bland side by side box lock ejector, 2 1/2" chambers, 30" barrels, he also threw in a leg of mutton leather case that the gun can fit in. the gun has been well used, the barrels could do with being reblued and the woodwork could do with a bit of a shine other than that the gun is pretty good, with the fore end off there is no slack and the bores are mint. well chuffed :good:
  17. .22 BRNO model 2 with iron sights (no scope). had a cz452 american in 17hmr with timmny trigger and leupold vx-1 4-12x40, sold it and regretted it.
