  1. I thought about making some of these myself but was talked out of it. Just be very wary what you use as a binding agent. If it goes mouldy you could end up making your birds ill.
  2. Meopta 7 x 50. Simple fixed mag, good low light gathering, very decent scope without paying German money. You shot very very well when you used mine.....
  3. I find Lancashire give an amazing service. 3 weeks for a recent .243 variation. Surprised yours is dragging on. Have you a dodgy past?
  4. Maybe a small team flush? Teams of 4 shooting 4 or 5 drives of 100 clays? Whatever you do I wish you the best of luck raising money for a worthwhile cause. Good to hear your treatment went well.
  5. Give me a bit more info and I will see if I can help. Have a few contacts in that game and I work in Darwen......
  6. Thanks. It is a 2 year mix so hopefully the other parts of the mix will come into play now. I am told the chicory will become the most dominant plant this year. Time will tell.
  7. Hi, just looking for a bit of info on kale. Last year we planted a 2 year game cover mix from Kings that is mostly kale. It did a cracking job in the first season. This year the kale has gone to seed and is currently covered in yellow flowers. Is this normal for kale?? Do the leaves thicken up as the year goes on or does it stay in this state?? Thanks.
  8. Partridge are a very jumpy bird and easier to drive than walk up in my opinion. Can you put in a few corners or strips of game crop and release a few pheasant?? Also have you any water that could be dug out to make a flight pond??
  9. Subject to people paying their deposit the places have now been filled. Thanks to all who enquired.
  10. Hi We are a small syndicate near Whalley in Lancashire looking for safe, local, hard working guns. A dog would be a big advantage but we will consider someone without one if you can show us you are willing to put in some extra effort around the shoot or by having something else that would be useful to us like a 4x4 / quad (or a small game farm ha). Guns will need to attend work days and do some feeding so we ask that any applicants live within 30 mins drive of the shoot. We shoot a very relaxed rough, walked up, mini driven format. Everyone takes a turn at beating. Bags are small and we are more interested in a few days out with good pals, a few laughs and a few shots along the way. The shoot has only been together for 2 years and is still developing. Guns must be prepared to attend their fair share of work partys as we are working hard to builld up cover and habitat for holding game. We operate on a 500 acres beef farm so please dont expect miles of rough cover to work your dog through. We have 2 woods, 2 ponds, 3 small corners of game crop plus a few little rough patches that all come together to provide us a days sport. Price £400 for 8 Saturdays plus roost shooting in Feb/March and a bit of vermin shooting all year round. We all pay in the same. Pay the rent, set aside some money for improvements, save an amount for feed and put down as many birds as we can afford with what is leftover. Genuine enquires by PM please.
  11. Some good shooting you had there. Well done
  12. Bought a used pair of Haix boots for under £40 on evil bay. Very impressed
  13. Great work. That's a very busy weekends shooting. Great to see your boys out learning the ropes.
  14. How about trying a radio to keep foxes away? Our pen has a cheap pocket radio which I put inside a short piece of drainpipe to keep the rain off. Cost me about £3 and cheap batteries last a week. Not really sure if it works but at less than the price of 1 poult to me it seams worth a go.
  15. Went to pick up 25 KG bag of grit for our small shoot yesterday. Came away with "pigeon grit" which is blended with minerals and has aniseed added. It was only £2 a bag more so if it helps hold a few birds then it's money well spent. Just wondered if anyone else uses it??
  16. If your around on a regular basis just feed the edges of the pond. If like us your a DIY shoot and only get down at weekends an auto feeder is a god send.
  17. Good work. Nice rifle as well.
  18. Remember you will need good mounts to go with your scope. Optilocks will set you back half of your budget. I have a second hand Meopta 7x50 with optilock rings & bases. All bought secondhand on here at a total cost of £270. A cracking set up for .223 without spending massive amounts.
  19. when someone behaves like a violent thug, they should stand the consequences - as the dead man has done. Bang on.
  20. Let me know what to search for as well please.
