  1. Hi fella, Very good point! Don,t assume this like i did. RFD left guns in his workshop , he was not insured to store guns overnight at the workshop only at his home address/Armoury. More interesting than that is the view of my insurance company....... had i left the guns in my shed, or my car or at work they would have paid out BUT lodge your guns with an RFD as im legally obliged to and the guns are not covered!!!!! Its in the hands of solicitors and its unlikely i will win apparently........
  2. when such lowlife is caught Red handed with no chance of changing there ways why dont we do the decent thing .........put them down.
  3. Can sympathize , last year had all of My 4 guns stolen whilst they were with my RFD for safe keeping! Made worse by the fact that my house/ contents insurance wont cover the loss and the RFD is a very good friend ...... difficult situation. Life goes on..... at least my home wasnt broken into.......very unpleasant.
  4. The Fire arms laws in our country are quite simply ancient and out of touch i think most would agree, also home office guidelines are just that a guide so are therefore subject to different interpratations depending on your viewpoint. I think its time to overhaul the whole( excuse the pun) Shooting Match but i can only see us the shooting community coming off worse than we are if its left to politicians and the like to organise. The answer i believe lies within the shooting community only can We as a united body actually implement changes that will really work because only we know whats right and wrong! BASC etc are really our only hope so the more that join the louder the voice!

  10. Unless your son has signed an agreement to repay training fees back to his employer He is safe and wont have to repay. He should tell his employer that should they deduct any monies on this basis it would represent an unlawful deduction of wages and he shall take them to an Industrial Tribunal in order to reclaim his wages plus costs. Emphasis the Unlawful deduction of wages bit and that should do the trick!
  11. Yes have had servicing , repairs and stock alterations and have been well pleased ,all the work was done by Mike. I did hear a rumour that he was working for himself now but cant confirm it.

  15. Big chub can be VERY difficult to fool, all the suggestions so far may work cheese, meat etc but I think You should try a more natural bait ie are there any elderberry or blackberry bushes overhanging the water ?Big chub love to sit under these and eat the berries as they drop! sounds crazy but give it a go.

  18. Firstly well done you have acheived the hardest task by obtaining a permission. Dont get hung up on decoy patterns etc just yet, what you need to do is find whereabouts on the land the birds are feeding thats assuming they are actually feeding on your patch.Once You know where they are You then need to know when they are doing it( I know this sounds obvious ).It sounds to me like You and Your mate are probably sharing a hide , now I know its great to share the day but Split up, this enables You to cover more ground and You can push any birds to and fro increasing Your Odds. Next, if birds won commit to Your deeks then dont be frigtened to shoot them off the flightline. Many times Ive had 50 plus deeks and a rotay out and never had a bird commit but have still taken good numbers just be sensible about what You attempt. With regard to Decoys , Rotarys etc.. its very much trial and error and just when you get it right and birds are dropping in the wind will change, a buzzard will turn up, or a Tractor will appear!Just keep going and trying and asking and it will come together. Incidentally now You have Your 1st permission its quite likely others will soon follow. Good luck.
  19. Try this approach. Farmers get dozens of requests for shooting and its easier to say no than for them to explain the situation in full. what generally happens is the Farmer allows a reliable Gun on his land and over time trusts him/her to keep on top of things, wot Im trying to say is that dont bother the farmer hes busy , instead find out who has got the permissions and approach them. Once You have this info ( local pub, or butchers etc..) approach the person and enquire about the possibilty of helping out( at this point its not unusual to be told to get stuffed) eventually a days shooting will come along ( it might cost a pint or two) you then either prove to be of use or not and over time your host will give the nod to the Farmer and away you go! Yes I know its not foolproof and you will get more no thankyous than yes pleases but it can work. It has for Me
  20. Take a child, any child, sit them in front of a TV showing violence and or a games console playing the latest `Kill All lifeforms You can` game for 8 hrs a day for say 15 years or more and we are suprised that things go wrong. Lets just hope its the last time.
  21. Your right that small set up looks great, BUT the reason the small set up is working is because the guy has very little biological loading ie no fish and he is running a much larger set up along side it ie another much larger matured stable tank, and this will probably be his water supply and a means to aquire matured live rock. when you go to your fish/ coral supplier the stock is often kept in tiny tanks, but they will all run to a very large sump and filter set up.Trust me small tanks rarely prosper and you will be very limited to what you can keep.
  22. My advice is as follows, make sure You get the biggest tank You can because I guarantee that if You start small you will waste a lot of time and money . Alarge set up is initially more expensive BUT a large tank will be alot easier to keep in the long run and will be much more stable. Live rock (lots of it) and as much water movement as possible (You really cannot over circulate a marine set up) a good skimmer and a lot of time and patience. Top tip find a good supplier and follow his /her advice DONT start taking advice from to many people as it usually contradicts and You will end up in a total mess not knowing who to trust stick with one opinion and you will eventually get there. One more thing when I say lots of live rock I MEAN LOTS AND LOTS!
  23. AYA No2 second hand 12-1500 or you could get a brand new Jensen Multi choke for 1300 ish. But You will get used to Two triggers in a very short space of time.
  24. Hi All, I have a lovely 4 Year old Jack Russell whos is the perfect Dog except for the fact He appears to be allergic to grass, wheat, pollen etc.., every time he goes near any fields or crops he starts to scratch himself to bits. Washing him in the fish pond seems to help for a while but later in the day he will start to scratch himself on his stomach and undersides. Ive tried creams and shampoos and the vet is ready and willing to charge a fortune for tests has anyone got any ideas? Incidentlly his sister fom the same litter is unaffected.
  25. Hi All, Looking for a forend for 686 S , anyone able to help?
