  2. Our meadows are similar to the OP - has not taken hundreds of years - just about 10 really Its amazing how nature bounces back - some of the improved grassland we have i stopped the tenants spraying about 6/7/ years ago and they are just filling lovely now with flowers - I spread green hay from the established meadows

  4. Marsh man -hello I had a similar conversation this last week about vermin and stuff on our shoot I am up to about 200 squirrels / 150 crows / 400 rats / 50 odd magpies on our shoot - mainly shooting them on feeders / or game covers - How much would that lot eat every day i wonder !
  5. They will come if you ask them Rewulf - i have had 2 and a candidate They are politicians and as you know tell you what you want to hear Is it worthwhile - yes probably - It also makes you think how we present the shoot to the general public which in our case has been only positive

  8. May be worth some of you viewing on You Tube"Animal Lovers Should Vote Labour"He says if animals had a vote in this election they would vote for Labour - i have said if they could read the manifesto they wouldntHe pledges to ban snare - close hunting loopholes - ban trophy imports - end the badger cull - All the thin end of the wedgeNext will be hunting with dogs as in Scotland - then larsen traps and so on and so onI have again invited him to our shoot and suggested on the same day we compare it with a local "nature reserve"Have a look and see what you think
  9. So after posting a few weeks ago about falling rook numbers - it appears we have had a fair number "move in"I have been catching these in the Larsen and Clams but releasing as i'm not convinced of damage done to my crops. Do they take other birds eggs ? I know thats not reason to cull now - BUT as every day is a school day does anyone have any real world experience on them please?
  10. This is great - be nice to see all the gun trade chucking a few quid in from each sale maybe ?
  11. Excellent As per the other site - send this on to all candidates
  12. Done that Conor - but as far as i can make out the letter has been sent to either only 1 candidate or to them all but addressed to only 1
