  1. The way I see it is that I have an open ticket to use the 243 for fox/medium quarry, but can only use the 243 for deer on land 'approved' by the Chief Officer. I will try and contact them tomorrow (Monday) and clear it up. Also, when I received my certificate back yesterday, the police forgot to add 308 ammunition on it (despite requesting it on my application form)
  2. I need a bit of advice regarding my certificate. I have an open licence to use my .243 rifle for shooting fox and medium quarry. I recently applied for a .308 for deer stalking, to be used under the supervision of my mate. My certificate has now been returned stating the same about the 308, ie, can only be used under the supervision of/whilst accompanied by my mate. The 243 still has the condition of shooting fox and medium quarry, (open ticket) but there is another condition that states that, 'The 243 rifle and moderator, and the 308 rifle and moderator shall be used for shooting deer and for zeroing on ranges, or land deemed suitable by the Chief Officer of Police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot' Does this mean that I can still use the 243 for fox and medium quarry on my 'open ticket' but only for deer on land deemed suitable etc etc? There is no 'restriction' ( deemed suitable etc) regarding land while using the 308. Does this mean that once I am 'qualified' to stalk on my own, I can have the condition for using the .243 / .308 for deer lifted? Your advice and comments would be appreciated. Cheers Steve
  3. Well done Mark, and also to Ben for the excellent lamping (his 1st time) Keep up the good work. Steve
  4. This is a fox taken by my mate Bullet Boy and his son Ben (in the second photo) The vixen was taken during lamping at a range of 190 - 200 yds. I put these photographs on PW because Bullet Boy had problems with his computer.
  5. Mine is set at 1inch high at 100 yards too. With the right weather conditions, the bullet should be very near the where you aim at 200 yards.
  6. Just fill in a variation form stating what new amount/s of ammo' you require. There may be a charge for this, so think of another calibre you would like, and add that as well. You may as well get your monies worth.
  7. Dave, Put down the reason you want the .22 calibre ( vermin control ) and for the FAC air rifle the same ( pigeons, rats near outbuidlings or in barns etc. Send the original letters from the landowners (make copies for yourself) Has the land you want to shoot on been passed for rimfire? If not, then the FEO will check that out. Good Luck Steve
  8. I second that what bulletboy has said. I shoot with him and we both own 10/22's. I am in the process of upgrading mine by fitting a better hammer, springs etc. Parts are available from the U.S.A. at very good prices, and are easy to fit.
  9. I'm in the process of buying a second hand Ruger 77 rifle. I'm not too keen on the stock. Is there a company in the UK that sells replacement stocks for this make of rifle? Cheers Steve EDIT. Bought a new Tikka T3 Lite SS instead.
  10. Don't know what the 12 guage is like, but if it's anything like their 410 s/s then it's a great gun.
  11. I bought one from Australia. It was two brass cartridge ends fused together. Sounded like a whistle! Complete and utter **** in my opinion.

  15. I have a set, used them a few times. They are light and easy to carry.
  16. I use a Primos Power crow call together with a flapper with crow on it. Putting dead birds out as decoys will help. Just make sure they look 'alive'
  17. In the CLA gamefair yesterday, I bought a box of Barnes 62gr grenade heads for my .243. Unknown to me, I have not got any data to state what amount of powder to use. I use Hodgden H380 for loading my .243 and .22/250. There is not a listing for a 62gr head for this brand of powder available. The nearest I have a listing for is 60 gr and 65gr. Does anyone know if I can use the H380 powder for this 62gr load, or is there a powder available for this Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Steve
  18. I went yesterday. Got there at 07.10am after a 2 hour drive from s.Wales. Traffic was okay with no hold ups. My only gripe was that the car park was a hell of a long way from the showground which made walking back to the car a few times for drinks etc, that more tiring. And it was ******* Hot.
  19. For Sale. The new Chris Green Wildfowling ( The Whole Story) Volume One DVD. Just released. Original and in excellent condition. Not a copy and has not been copied. Sell for £15 inc pp by recorded delivery. First to ask for it, gets it. Thanks SOLD to paraone pending usual.
  20. Looks impressive What did it cost to build?
  21. Another vote for Icmeler. I have visited there 9 times in 7 years. It's quiet but if you want the 'nightlife' it's not far away. A very pretty place, safe for the kids, and, stilll one of the cheapest places to go. I've just returned from Cyprus, expensive especially if you have kids in tow. Hope this helps. Pm for more details etc
  22. I'll try and get some pictures of the scope added later. Not really much to see though, it's the inside/optics that count.
  23. SORRY Removed from sale.
