  1. Another thought that occurs to me as well is that if you own a WRC team you probably don't want a British driver in an RHD car and a Finnish one in an LHD car as that's just extra problems, parts etc, so the British drivers just give in and get used to LHD rather than risk limiting their options when it comes to teams.
  2. The FIA (that make the rules for WRC) are French, so they specified left hand drive in the specs for homologating a WRC car, so most of the stages leading up to that stay as left hand drive even if the rules don't technically apply to them (pretty sure the rules apply at most of the properly competitive levels though) so the drivers are not at a big disadvantage if they move up to WRC, had a mate that used to do amateur rallying where you had a choice of LHD or RHD and most of them drove on the wrong side too. With some of the older rallies the co driver used to have to jump out to grab their timing card and if they had been in an RHD car then they would have been on the wrong side too, like trying to pay at a toll booth in France when you don't have a passenger! Edit: Just checked the rules, and it does say that inversion of the driving side is possible, but the car would need to be homologated again, so they probably don't do it to save money and hassle.
  3. Related to education, there used to be a cube shaped tank on the promenade in Brighton. Had a sign on it that said "This is one cubic metre of water, try and move it" Was put there by the RNLI to try and make people understand the need to treat the water with respect.
  4. You can only use a Virgin modem on Virgin, but you can switch the superhub router to modem only mode in the settings and then connect the WAN port on another router to the first Ethernet port on the superhub, it's the router part of them that generally works badly so should solve your issues if your BT one can work from a connection to a separate modem rather than just with its internal one. Info here: http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=29475&CURRENT_CMD=SEARCH&CONFIGURATION=1001&PARTITION_ID=1&USERTYPE=1&LANGUAGE=en&COUNTY=us&VM_CUSTOMER_TYPE=Cable You'll need to do a search to see how to set up the business hub as I've never used those, but it's not usually that tricky.
  5. There's also been a few cases where strong sunshine has caused the pressure in them to increase and the "poles" have failed, at least with rigid or fibreglass poles you can chuck a few spare sections in the bag just in case, I think the air pole ones need a specialist repair if they have any more than a pin hole.
  6. Didn't know that, could always go in for the free advice and then buy it online then.
  7. Or head into richer sounds, the staff in there are actually helpful and try and make sure you leave with the best product for you rather than the most expensive, if they're on commission you wouldn't know it.
  8. Good stuff, glad it fits, now don't send it off to be galvanised....
  9. In this case it was the other way round, former MP became a suicide bomber!https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/36902702?client=safari
  10. Yeah I'll take plenty of photos, the state of what's there currently is pretty poor and you couldn't argue that it's serviceable, probably 30 or 40 years old, wafer thin and wobbly with more holes than a doily and loads of old bodges, its sheltered from the prevailing wind by the houses otherwise it would have collapsed long ago, a medium kick would flatten it and to be honest a kebab guff within about ten feet of it would likely be terminal.
  11. Possibly, although I did tell his tenants that I don't want any money for the fence, and even if I was after money then he could just say no, I'm only trying to get in touch with them as I'm trying to be nice, if he wants a new gate he can pay for it though. He's sounding like a bit of an oddball actually having spoken to the tenants, I'm quite glad it's rented out!
  12. That's what I was thinking, I'm trying to be neighbourly but there's only so much you can do before it starts getting a little ridiculous. Thanks for that.
  13. Ok, little advice from those of a legal mindset please. I live in a semi detached house and the house next to me is a Licensed HMO, there's an alleyway in between the two properties with a short boundary fence, attached to that are two gates, one for each garden. The fence belongs to my property, and it's had it, as have the two gates although the one on my side still closes, the one on the other side doesn't. I want to put up a new fence comparable to the one that's there, not planning on something like they have around a festival. I've spoken to the tenants there, they called their landlord who told them not to give out his number and refused to take my number to call me, so I've done a search on the land registry and found out their name, as well as got hold of the HMO license from the council which gives the landlord's address and the name of the managing agent. On speaking to the managing agent they're saying they don't manage the property, checked with the council and they don't have a problem with the incorrect details on the license. Would I be correct in thinking that as long as I send a letter to the landlord's address telling them that I'm putting up a new fence (which I will pay for) and giving them an option for a new gate (which I will want money for) then I have covered myself against any legal issues in the future even if they don't bother to get back to me? I'm sure they could probably still take me to court over the gate if they wanted to, but just want to know if that would constitute sufficient due diligence. I think that's pretty much all I can do to get in touch with them short of turning up on their doorstep, their number is ex directory so that doesn't help either. I'm replacing like for like at my expense apart from the gate, but their gate doesn't close, is hanging off and is (barely) attached to my fence post, so they won't be losing anything, and I will take photos to prove that in future if I need to, I'll even happily screw the knackered gate onto the new fence post, but it's still not going to work as a gate. Really don't understand why they're being so difficult, but I suppose that's the way it goes sometimes.
  14. That looks like it'll fit, the same seller does have one cheaper with a different facia though, won't matter since you'll be taking it off and still has the 90 day warranty. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282094416536
  15. Can't see a link, but as long as it's a UJ8A0 then it should fit, keep your old drive until the new one is in though, you might need to transplant another piece, it'll also be handy to have as a reference to help you see how to get any plastics off it without damage when the replacement one turns up.You'll also want to take the battery out of your laptop before putting the new drive in, it probably won't damage anything doing it with the battery in as long as it's switched off, but it's a sensible precaution.
  16. There's one here that looks like the right one, it's in France but it will still be the same drive. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361584178146 Have a look to see if you can salvage the plastic trim/facia off your old drive if it isn't knackered, that model drive is fitted to a lot of laptops from various manufacturers and it's only the plastic parts and sometimes the mounting brackets (if there is one) that are different, you should be able to transplant them from your broken drive to the new one, will cost you much less that way, there is the same drive going for six quid with a Samsung facia on it. Drive is a Panasonic UJ8A0, just search that if you can save the plastics off the old drive.
  17. This ^ Sometimes they're not even screwed in, one of my laptops just has a small sliding clip holding it in, so as long as it's only the removable drive part that's damaged rather the the bits of laptop chassis that it attaches to that are damaged then it'll only take a couple of minutes to change it.
  18. And as I discovered when I had a look at it yesterday does so by default 24/7 whether you gave it pemission or not (was the first time I had opened it, when I got it with the iOS update I stuck it in my carp folder as it can't be deleted but it had been recording data since I got it.) you can stop it doing so in the privacy settings if you're so inclined, you can bet it sends data to Apple so they can send you adverts for slimfast and treadmills.
  19. To be honest, I always thought it was a long shot, but right this second I'd be surprised if they didn't elect Le Pen.
  20. You're right, the French are really losing their patience, and you can't blame them. http://news.sky.com/story/mourners-spit-on-place-where-lorry-killer-died-10505491
  21. If you really boot it in the wet in an empty L200 the back end can start to slide, the traction control sorts it out but you do lose drive while it does, easy enough to sort though, once you're used to when the turbo kicks in you can ease off a bit to stop it slipping, or just stick it in four wheel drive when it's wet, warrior model and up has a viscous coupling and can be used in four wheel drive high on Tarmac without wind up, you could happily leave it in four wheel drive permanently if you don't mind the extra wear and tear and fuel consumption.
  22. Anyone that want to use western union and isn't a Nigerian Prince that wants to innocently transfer money out of the country is suspicious in my book, I made a cool ten million on the last email I got, it'll hit my account soon, you do have to careful though, lots of scammers about.
  23. His statements today aside, Corbyn has a long history of antisemitic associations, there's his close friends Ken Livingstone and George Galloway for one thing, hardly beacons of love and tolerance towards Jewish people, and also during the referendum campaign he flatly refused to share any kind of platform or event with David Cameron, so he obviously has enough principles to not share a platform with those he strongly disagrees with, so the fact that he's happy to share a platform with both Paul Eisen, who is a holocaust denier, and Raed Salah, who has been convicted of various offences of incitement involving the medieval blood libel that Jews use the Blood of children to make their bread for Passover, and had been convicted long before Corbyn met him speaks volumes. The hard left has a real problem with antisemitism, and has for years, and so does Corbyn's Labour Party, just look to see how many Hamas flags are being waved in the crowds at his rallies, this is an organisation that states in its charter that there will be no peace with Israel until Israel is gone. His statement today, if you pick it apart, says that Muslims can be decent as long as they don't support ISIS, and Jews can be decent as long as they don't support Israel, because they're one and the same, I'm not surprised in the slightest that people are angry, nor do I believe that he stumbled over his words or is being misinterpreted, the man has advisors to pick up glaring mistakes before he speaks, and that statement wouldn't have been there if it wasn't meant to be. The Telegraph explains it better than I can, but even the Guardian are flaming him for it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/30/after-comparing-israel-to-isil-weve-got-to-stop-pretending-that/ http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/30/jeremy-corbyn-appears-compare-israeli-government-islamic-state-labour-antisemitism-review
