  1. Still seeing very few near me, me and my daughter were stood talking to a chap i know on Friday when we spotted a squirrel, look dad a squirrel, chap says don't see many around these days ? i know i said I've shot loads in the garden, just the odd sighting of youngsters moving in.

  2. I have no idea of prices on these things, but have a look at Doctor Bob rails, think that's his selling name, he is on the Rapid7 forum, makes and sells a lot of very good stuff from what the fellas say.

    Thanks for the info

they do indeed have a probationary membership for £25 and loan all of the equipment with the only cost being the ammo (around £5 for 50 apparently)

they all seem to use the open Olympic round ‘penny type’ sights but some people do shoot normal open or even low mag scoped

They are geared around competition shooting

im going to take a trip down when I get back home

    thanks for your in-depth reply

sounds like a lot of fun, not many shooting sports where you can try before you buy almost. Let us know how you get on and how long before you are addicted.

The ony reason they're really is, is that EO are very intolerant of other BoP's have been caught on film raiding HH nests. So they're worried that if EO become more numerous they will scare many HH off, the fact that Buzzards have been doing that to Kestrals for decedes to the point hardly any Kestrals locally now, but they can't have that with their precious HH, as it is their best political/PR weapon to target shooting. I thik i said earlier in this thread 60% of HH chicks fledged of grouse moors this year.

I imagine you're right there, but it still sounds so very wrong.

I'm not sure how visible Eagle owls are in there general daily behaviour, folk drive miles to see eagles and ospreys, red kites, so I'd think they would for eagle owls as well, if there visible.

Apologies i never seen ur post's scully, if someone doesn't re quote them i never bother to open them.

Was quite a few years ago now and came from a couple of very good sources, but if the shoe was on the other foot it would have been front page tabliod news and every keeper in the district would have had there doors kicked in.

I have absolutely no reason to doubt them even now an EO is quite an impressive sight and not something u'd mis id, so when there starting to look for a nest and in the same area and then start building in a spot where u can watch them every day and then suddenly missing

I would imagine probably similar sources wot beefy was using for his article too, by the sound of it it is becoming far more common and far more 'overt' in trying to stop EO's nesting

I've been following this but nothing i can add.

I am curious why anyone would want to remove eagle owls? Considering how excited people get over big raptors, and yes I've handled eagle owls so i know there big i thought bird folk would be excited about them? Am i being naive?

  6. It's a good idea to not carry your tin around and once you have used a few put some packaging in the tin so they can't move around so easily.

I'm lucky now as i can load magazines but i have 30 odd in a pocket in a small tub just deep enough for one pellet so there side by side not moving about and can't squash each other.

I have a 63 plate 220 CDI, went to Leicester and back the other morning, whats that, around 300 miles, cruise on the motorways at 15 over, stuck to the limit everywhere else, returned 49.6 mpg, newer ones tacky inside, have a lower boot opening

pal calls it a limo,  comfy, refined, huge boot, a bit of tyre noise from the back depending on the surface, but I'm sensitive to that, will sort that at tyre time, mind got a big trans k9 in the boot, could be that resonating, cars a keeper, I like it, easy to fix, engine is supposed to be bullit proof

sounds good, what wheel size have you got? Reviews I've read are saying the 18 & 19 inch wheels give a lot more road noise, and i would have expected the mpg to be less than that.

  8. Clever beasts insects aren't they, these wasps are probably two or three feet from our patio, not bothered us as yet, the kids and visitors know they are they and stay away from that little bit of the garden, but look what they have done to make coming and going easier.

I rarely pass a month without  diagnosing a case of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)  which is a broad term for several cardiac arrythmia (heart arrythmia) Not all cases are directly attributed to consumption of energy drinks, some  are caused by other factors affecting the cardiac anatomy and physiology.

Some cases have a possible associated link with high energy drinks along with use of amphetamines, cocaine and  heroin  which have side effects of coronary artery spasm and inducing pre excitory arrythmias. See a few people who party hard with use of illicit substances and mix it up with energy drinks.

Have diagnosed  males and females from mid teens who have binged on energy drinks and  after taking a clinical history from the pt the consumption of the energy drink has been the only identifiable trigger factor, having ruled out other behavioral, biochemical, physiological factors.

Quite a few years ago I worked in coronary intensive care and for a large part of me life I ate, slept and breathed the heart. Saw and managed many cases of SVT from energy drink abuse. Frightening for the individual having your heart beating out of your chest among other symptoms. Have had to result in shocking (cardioversion) individuals when all other guidance measures have failed.

Saw individuals who would return for treatment and management for months and years with paroxysmal SVT who were a first presentation SVT from energy drink abuse.

Caffeine in energy drinks  affects the body in many ways, caffeine is an agonist and increases adrenaline (enepherine) noradrenaline and dopamine production increasing your heart rate, increasing your blood pressure, increasing your heart muscle contractile output. Your heart can do that through every now and then without concern but constant production of these is not good for your good ol body!

Well that should be drummed into kids at school, its all well and good people saying about the nanny state, but what chance have kids future health got if this is the way things are going

This could also play a part in the number of people who die young whilst doing sports?

  10. I cant see kids suddenly going into Starbucks for four or five coffees a day, never mind the price look at the adverts of say red bull, my kids always stop and watch.

I'm not a coffee or energy drink fan but i know the tastes are totally different, couple of lads at work regularly have a couple of those bigger monster cans ?

  11. What difference does rear wheel drive make? Other than once pushing someone because they couldn't get going on a snowy hill i know nothing about it.

looking on exchange and mart website the other day and a Merc E class came up as an alternative car, all seem to be automatic and rear wheel drive but very nice, any thoughts?

  12. No pictures??

My brother had a tube of expanding foam in a tool box and a similar thing happened, took him ages getting stuff out.

the wife also banned me from using expanding foam, i once sealed a front door from inside to stop the draft, so i didn't make any mess!! Have you tried getting that stuff off PVC and brickwork ???

Managed to find him one today! I am thrilled to bits he now has one! I rang mum earlier today to let them know I will drop it off tomorrow for them, Mum was asking "much do I owe you?" I just said you owe me a hug

now will need a few month month and I should be able to get him a scooter too with any luck.

great stuff, but you need a brew and a hug ?

  14. I think banning kids from drinking these drinks is easy and obvious, why would you want your kids having a red bull or similar? Saw it on the telly today and thought it was already banned, kids drinking 6-7 cans then having heart trouble!!!

For my kids fizzy drink is an occasional treat if were out some place.

  15. I've said this before, in an RSPB mag they were chuffed to bits over 4 something's fledging, I'll have to find the article, could have been curlews, they listed a predator fence, at who knows what cost and predator control as reasons for the success but didn't elaborate what predators were controlled or how.

we all know they do it, they just choose to pretend it doesn't go on.
