    Pard 019

Just to dd to this post, my pal bought one a couple of weeks ago and as said by Rewulf, the screen has no focus adjustment but my pal got a set of add-on lenses to address this issue. It is a matter of seconds to put the lens in the bellows and seat it, just change them until you have the optimum focus for you. A quick and very easy fix which then gives you a cracking spotter, some dealers will give a set of lenses with the 019 but if not, they can be bought on ebay for about a fiver. One other thing, the IR torch pulls forward to change from spot beam to close flood but they can be very stiff, if fact we didn't think it moved at all until his Pard 008 arrived and we saw how that operated so a firm but gentle pull and we were away. Good value bit of kit with an 18650 battery, a spare is very cheap ( about £5-7) which when you compare to the like of Pulsar, well no comparison. Phil
  2. Last time we stayed at High Lodge,my wife tried some of the HL 24gr which I thought were not good shall we say. To be honest the Eley First Select is a far better cartridge in my opinion but we are Eley fans normally using Superbs. We love High Lodge and have been going down every year for the past 14 years. Their lodges are spot on with fishing just outside the front door. Phil
  3. I have tried some Sellier & Bellot .22 shorts in my Anschutz 1417 ............................................. useless groups at 25mt although I would like to try some decent shorts. As I said earlier, I have both the rimmy .22lr and FX Impact .25 fac and shoot just as many rabbits at the same range with the Impact as I do with the .22lr so where do I go from here. I have considered using HV ammo in the .22lr to get the range increased and then use the rimmy for longer shots or bite the bullet (so to speak, excuse the pun) and buy a .17hmr for better results at longer range. I think I will get the fac variation for 17hmr then decide. I am sure I will love having all three. Phil
  4. The HW100 is accurate as hell, heavy and boringly good but the Ultra is fun and light with enough shots for a session or take a cylinder and top up or save some more cash and buy either an FX Wildcat, short, light, accurate and 200+ shots per fill and FX Impact, short, a little heavier but not much, very accurate, 700+ shots per fill but top dollar. I have one in .25 fac and love it, only wish I had the cash and I would buy another Impact in sub 12 in any cal because you can just buy a new barrel in what ever cal you want. One other rifle to consider is the FX Streamline which is light, 200 shots per fill and accurate. I might even be selling mine as it just doesn't get used as I use fac all the time. Phil
  5. I totally agree with you Stu. I have an FX Impact .25 and an Anschutz 1417 .22 rimfire and to be very honest they both produce the same result with similar range capability and fps. The only advantage the rimmy has is a 40gr slug compared to 25gr of the pellet I use so the rimmy is used in windy conditions. The Impact is my go to gun without question. Phil
  6. Well what did you expect...................................I did tell you. Phil
  7. Looks like he is in the US or Canada so the rifle will be fac at 82fpe on the Impact. So you have changed your mind and gone for the Crown, well a very stylish gun but the balance is quite different to the Impact putting for weight forward unlike the Impact which has all the weight between your hands making it very comfortable to carry around and hold very still whilst taking the shot but I am sure you will be happy with your new, new purchase so enjoy it, I will stick with Impacts. Phil
  8. I have an Impact .25 FAC and what a superb piece of kit, love it love it love it. I have a single shot loader for mine but they are not available from FX, mine is a 3d printed one made by a friend on another forum. It is possible that the club you went to does have a policy of single shot rifles and part of that idea is that you have to load for each shot, therefore not having the advantage of getting in the zone with multi shot which will allow you concentrate on the target without the interruption of having to load for each shot...................... join another club. If I could afford one, I would have a sub 12 Impact as well but the old pension will not run that far ? Enjoy your new gun and stick to JSB pellets and you will not go far wrong after all, FX only use JSB in all their tests and their own branded pellets are JSB Exact I believe. Phil
  9. Try JSB RS or Express, both are light and would suit a pistol. Phil
  10. There are quite a few cottage industry NV units available, some are good but some are not. There are instructions on how to build one on other forums for about £100 so I wonder how this guy is making one with profit for £125. Phil
  11. Really nice outfit and the range finder is a game changer. I have the Viper with a Tracer ir torch to boost range, just about okay for my fac air and rimfire. If I find a Wolf at the right money, I will have one. Phil
  12. Depending on where you live, a call to Ratworks would be a good move and Airtech is another who is a super tuner but has had some issues so could result in a long wait to get your gun back. The other contact is John Bowkett who is a master when it comes to BSA pcp guns. I must say that I have not used any of these but have been regarded by many as top people. Hope that helps Phil

    FAC AIR

The FX Impact for the .25 but you knew I would say that Mitch and depending on what you really want in .22, I was going to buy a .22 barrel kit for the Impact but simply found I just didn't need it or any other rifle which is why I let my Rapid .22 fac go to my pal. If you are going to go ahead with the Impact .25, just use that for a while and then think about a .22 when you have used the .25 for a while, your ticket will still have a .22 slot so doesn't need to be filled straight away. Just a thought. Phil
  14. I have had an FX Impact .25 fac for about 18 months now and simply love it. I know you are not looking at an fac but nevertheless the base rifle is nothing less than a shear joy to use. If only my pension would run to it, a sub 12 version would be sat in my cabinet as we speak. I have just bought an FX Streamline from a friend which is not in the same league as the Impact but fitted with the pension and still a lovely rifle. My advice is to try one if possible and if you buy one, DO NOT start to 'tune' the rifle just because you can. The majority of issues / problems have been caused by people messing around with the various adjustments that you have with these guns. The other thing to do if you are buying new or s/h is to record the settings of the rifle so you have the settings so you can always revert back to factory settings. Lastly read the manual several times to fully take on board the info given. These guns are nothing short of fantastic as they come from the factory, just buy one and enjoy. Phil
  15. I use the Nitesite Viper and to be honest they do a great job but even though they are rated to 100mt but I find it needs an extra IR torch to get more than just eye shine. I am going for a Wolf to get the extra distance but the good thing is that the Nitesite is so light compared to any other NV system when you take into account the weight of the torch. I use the Viper on sub 12 air rifles, fac air rifles and rimfire rifle and the total ease of switching from one gun to another is superb and of course it gives you total flexibility in your night time shooting so don't be put off these types of NV units. The screen NV systems are very popular now that a great many people build their own for around £100 and the quality is excellent. Phil
  16. Stunning birds, only wish we had a few in my neck of the woods. It's strange how the spread of birds of prey changes. We have loads of Buzzards which is a relatively new thing as you would never come across any ten years ago. Good photo's from a phone. Phil
  17. I can only agree Norman but your bloody hands are to big so I can't borrow it now for a play..............................................spoilsport. Phil
  18. I shoot with a DT10, 32'' sporter and I strongly believe that the balance you get from the DT guns are so much better than the 690's. I shoot the obvious sporting, english skeet, DTL and Olympic trap with this gun. I no longer shoot competition any more as the pension will not push that far however being able to straighten the above disciplines on a reasonably regular basis tells me that I am not quite finished just yet. Getting back to the point, I am sure if I got back into competition shooting I may go for a dedicated trap gun but the rest would happily be shot with my DT10 and to be honest switching from 30 to 32'' barrels doesn't help you one bit. Buy the barrel length you feel most happy with and stick with it, likewise you SHOULD feel the difference in handling between the DT11 and 690, if you can't either sell the DT11 or do not buy it because it will be a total waste of money. The DT11 should stand head and shoulders above the 690. I had a few rounds with a DT11 ACS, my lord we are talking of an amazing gun and sooooooo much better than any trap gun I have ever used. Drool time http://www.beretta.com/en-uk/dt11-acs/ Just be happy with the decision you take and talk to an RFD who will arrange for you to test one before to spend that sort of money, if your local RFD will not or can not help, contact GMK, the importer who will find you an RFD who will let you have a gun to try, perhaps on a specified ground but well worth the effort. Phil
  19. I am a member of Beverley CTC which is a superb trap and skeet club although there are now quite a few sporting stands and well worth a look. If you want a friendly little club, I am also a member of Melrose Shooting Ground on the edge of Barton, about 5mins from the Humber Bridge, sporting, compact and skeet. If you want more info on either of these, feel free to pm me. Phil
