  1. Very strange and unnecessary comment about a very generous fundraiser who also is very vocal in supporting fieldsports!
  2. Unless your income is large enough to reach the next level tax bracket, you will only pay 20% tax on any amount above you personal allowance. No different to any one else except you do not pay national insurance. you will still have 80% of your income, not a bad position to be in and many would be happy with that. Yes it is frustrating and annoying to pay tax but the governments need to raise income to successfully run the country for our benefit.( how they spend the money is another matter!). regards
  3. It really is beyond belief how much power and control Ms Sturgeon and co have managed to accumulate . There are examples in all aspects of daily life throughout Scotland. Sadly, a lot of SNP voters don't care about any issues, as long as the independence fantasy is pursued. Similarly in UK elections there won't be many miners or Liverpool dockers swap votes to Conservative. And not many lords of the manor, changing to Labour Independence supporters will always vote SNP.
  4. It appears that you have been taxed wrongly. Unless your total taxable earnings this year put you in higher tax bracket. If it doesn't correct itself on next payment slip I suggest you contact HMRC. Or contact them now, I find them helpful at correcting errors. Have all the relevant info, NI number, pension details etc, ready when you call.
  5. It should also be said that the Green party and it's supporters in Scotland are contributing greatly towards some of the more dangerous, impractical and lunatic policies. The SNP have depended on the Green support and indulge their political fantasies, to the detriment of decency and common sense.
  6. That may have been possible in the past but the current situation is considerably less favourable. For example : if the pension is deferred for 1 year (52 weeks) an addition 5.8% is added to future payments. There is no payment of lump sum for lost pension at any time . In figures in approximate terms....... Lose 1st years pension£10000. Take annual pension the next year at increased rate £10580. In simplistic terms you will take over 17 years to recover the deferred year pension!
  7. On the subject of pension deferral, although a small annual increase is gained, it will take many many years to catch up on the lost £ 9000 or £10000 per annum. Not usually financially sensible to save a few quid tax. Although everyone's circumstances are different. Regards
  8. As an aside to the current SNP investigation, the UK government and various parties are also currently participating in murky affairs and possible wrongdoings. Bullying, expenses queries, sexual impropriety, gaining financial advantage, etc etc. I don't think wrong doing in politics is exclusive to Scotland. Sadly very few public figures can be trusted. Regards
  9. Unfortunately, the SNP will still have a vast support regardless of police inquiries. There is a hardcore of the electorate who have such a burning hatred for Great Britain, the monarchy and especially all things English, that they will still vote SNP. Hopefully, the casual SNP voter who previously voted in the hope that SNP would improve Scottish life within the UK, will now reconsider alternative options. The majority of Scots have never been in favour of the break up of UK, and perhaps any future Scottish ruling party can concentrate on the day to day matters of importance, health, education , housing, law and order etc. Regards PS, the SNP lowered the age of voting in Scottish elections to 16, as they were mature enough to make important choices. Only last week a judge refused to jail a 17 year old convicted rapist ,quoting a Scottish government report which stated persons minds were not fully matured and developed enough at such a young age! The lunatics have well and truly taken over!
  10. If this is truly a defined benefit pension, the rules will be set by scheme. Normally you can receive a tax free sum ( the amount is subject to scheme rules) and an annual pension ( may include spouse benefit on death). You should be given a clear explanation and choice of options from scheme administration, with your forecast. Regards
  11. Hello, who are them all? Do you mean the majority of Scots who voted for parties other than SNP, or who?
  12. He will continue the obsessive pursuit of "independence" to the total detriment of the Scottish people. He has an appalling record in his 2 previous government posts and he may even be worse in this one! I don't see the SNP as a serious threat to the Conservative MPs in southern Scotland and Labour may re gain the central belt. I feel the SNP maybe a busted flush in the near future. Regards PS, I notice there is no clamour from Sturgeon et al to have an election, owing to an unelected leader. Quite the opposite roar when the Conservatives announced new PM.
  13. Yes I understand the low population density in this area leads to low footfall. I have been shooting clays at Westlands ( in all its previous guises) for many years, but I hoped the latest version with new gunshop, cafe/bar etc would have been a bit more of an attraction. I really hope it continues and wish them every success, certainly not a growth industry!
  14. Called into Westlands yesterday (wed). Upon arrival no customers in gun shop, no customers in cafe. Proceed to shooting ground and again no one else shooting. Pleasant for me as I could take my time and pick and choose stands. Party of 2 guns arrived to shoot.Upon return to clubhouse, only 1 table occupied in cafe and still no customers in gun shop. Had a nice coffee and staff friendly as always. For whatever reason it is a very under used facility. Back again on Sunday and it may have a few more guests then.
  15. World conflict, disease, fuel crisis etc. Almost certainly, as yet unknown, increase in price. Certainly won't be cheaper.
  16. My great grandson is present and says the rendition of GSTK by the support was nerve tingling. Please remember many Scots are strong supporters of the Union. Regards
  17. Ibrox stadium, Rangers FC, Glasgow. Tonight . Fantastic show of support for monarchy and UK. GSTK
  18. Sad to hear that dealers/breeders are now exploiting and profiteering from the current crisis. Increases way in excess of additional costs . However, many people and some on here, did the same with pup prices a short time ago. Charging disgustingly high amounts for dogs, without having incurred any significant extra costs. Supply and demand seems to override common decency. Pay up and smile......or don't. Regards
  19. Proof marks will give indication. Name and address on rib may help.
  20. No problem, just given heads up to members looking for a different size, or if yours were sold.😉
  21. Yes I fully agree the Nationalists have some crazy plans, but I will state once again, the majority of Scots voted to remain in UK. People in Scotland don't hold it against the whole of England, because of some idiotic political views from London etc. You can't tar everyone with the same brush just because you disagree with the vociferous minority. Come to Scotland and you won't hear anyone banging on about independence etc. Most people in the street have little political appetite and most of the hype is stirred up by the media. And the few who hate Scots for whatever reason.
  22. Ok ,75% of people of working age are employed, paying tax. How many people are under 16 or over 64? They are all being supported by those in employment, as well as the 25% working age not in employment. I'm afraid I'm not smart enough to work that one out.
