  1. You welcome to the dead weasels I found the other day if you think that might help woo her? I think that's part of the old drainage system, while the vast majority of it is dry, I didn't dare step in the 6ft or so round the middle haha.
  2. Think you might have have to Duel another member for her fair hand... Mole traps at dawn maybe...
  3. I just told my boy I would need some help picking up a few acorn's and then spreading them down the pond to see if we could get a few ducks to come in and he said 'yay I can't wait to try duck' Hopefully he'll be up for shooting a few for me 😂
  4. Sorry to hear your suffering like that but equally thank you for sharing. I'd always been one for washing my hands after touching something, and used to get a bit of stick for it but I'm glad it's an ingrained habit especially after reading this.
  5. I'll try gather some up, I suppose it would be worth dropping a few down this year even if I'm not going to shoot it just to see if they go after them. I've been reading a bit about wildfowling and flight ponds here and there and I'm itching to try it out.
  6. No not on this farm, these are man made but haven't been tended too in a long time, as far as I know they've not been shot before either. I had read on here about banana's being a good draw for them, do old acorn's work aswell? Thinking about gathering up what's about this year and saving them for next.
  7. As there's no water on it it might well push them on the the bigger one, no harm in getting a couple bags of barley in, in the future and having a go. Be nice to have a couple here and there throughout the season.
  8. I'll bear that in mind, cheers 👍
  9. Suffolk, I did see something about a BASC's one somewhere else but think you had to be a member?
  10. I'll keep an eye on it throughout the rest of the year into next to see if anything uses it, just seems strange that even after the dry years we've had in the past it's never been empty. Wouldn't mind a trip to the foreshore at some point, will have to see if any of the club's have a taster day for next season maybe. And no, never fed or shot it.
  11. Neither pond harbours a massive amount of duck or geese but they do visit and they do seem to prefer the smaller one which is surrounded completely. The larger one of the two still has cover, and would be the far better/easier one to shoot but that's never the way it goes is it. Maybe next year when shooting over it is a more realistic option I might try feeding it up a bit.
  12. There's a place in Stanway that stocks Bornaghi, not sure on calibers but might be worth a try. Chapman safes or gun cabinets I think it's called.
  13. Trust me, I've made many a plan over a coffee thinking about what id like to do with those ponds 😂 the bloke who owns it is a relative of a dead friend of the family, think it's something I could approach him about in the future. Hopefully as the weather changes it will fill again.
  14. You wouldn't be able to get any equipment down to it, both ponds have well established trees around the entire perimeter. If I owned the ground I'd put some real effort into trying to make it a decent flight pond.
  15. 😂 It's puzzled me too
  16. Also happened across these two fella's, found the first one on a cut wheat field, thought maybe he'd been caught out by the combine but the bottom one was in a small patch of hidden tree's. Thinking back I've only seen two weasels in my life, the last one being about a month ago disappearing into hedgerow, wasn't expecting to find two dead in one day.
  17. Don't think there'll be Mallard here on the 1st.... 1 of two ponds on my biggest perm, watched a few Canada's and Mallard come on and off it over the last year, the other pond is about twice the size of this one but they seem to prefer the smaller one. Never seen it completely dry before.
  18. Bit long in the barrels for me but love that step up rib.
  19. What percentage of it is anti's trying to stitch gamekeeper's up? I don't for one minute believe they aren't behind some of these acts to make us look bad.
  20. The first time i set decoys up and the birds actually came into them I came home with 3 birds for about 10 shots. Set up around 2pm, It had been quiet for hours, a few passing birds had shown litteraly no interest in the pattern at all, then around 4pm I moved the decoys slightly further out in the field, remembering seeing on here somewhere that if it's not working change it. I'd looked down at my phone, looked back up and there was these two pigeons decoying exactly how they do in an Andy Crow video! Couldn't believe it! No left and right unfortunately but I took one, then the other two in the half hour that followed. Could have been a few more but I was so chuffed that for the first time it had all come together I didn't care. It was magic watching it all come together, wouldn't have mattered if it was 3 birds or 300 that day. I fear I've probably got rather rusty again over the last year or so but the pigeons will still be there in the future, in the meantime I'll enjoy reading all of your write ups, large bags or small 👍
  21. There's one Newmarket/Bury way but I can't for the life of me remember the name, I'll have a search about and pm you if I can find it.
  22. Thank you, to be honest I never put them through the O/U but through the auto they were fine. Next O/U I'm going to go for something a bit heavier so the recoil shouldn't be an issue. They always felt a good quality cartridge.
  23. 😂 Like the die hard films after number 3.
  24. They had been putting them on yesterday, released way before my time but what great television. I do remember vaguely the series in South America from when I was growing up but I'm now old enough to appreciate the drama and humour.
