  1. Looking for a small/medium 4x4. I shoot crows, pigeons on a large farm. Maximum mileage would be 10 miles each way. In the winter some of tracks are very muddy and uneven. There is only me and the shooting gear. A Jimny looks like a good option. Any other options ????? Max spend £8K
  2. My brother has a couple in his 18 x 12 workshop Over the moon with them.
  3. There is a nice looking Jimny on the net. Very cheap. Strange that is for sale in half a dozen different location in the country every day. Some people are as thick as mince.
  4. I could go to £500 max. At the moment I use a normal scope with a Red LED torch attached. I normally rest the air rifle on the top of the drivers window so nothing over tall would work.
  5. As the nights draw in the rats will become more prevalent. Can anybody recommend a reasonable priced night vision scope to go on my HW 100. I normally shoot around the farm from inside my Freelander, I cannot afford £1000 scopes.
  6. Last year I sold my BMW 135 through WBAC they knocked off £800 because the full service history was not done on the exact day it should have been. Thieves.
  7. Went out tonight and got quite a few. The rest will be gone in a week.
  8. Went out today lots of pigeons flying about definitely not interested in the decoys. And not on any defined flight line. Missed lots whilst sitting on my drum seat. So I decided to lift the nets and stand up to shoot, Definitely improved the kill rate. Does anybody else stand up to shoot.
  9. IMHO springers are not as accurate as PCPs. My HW100 is more accurate than my shooting, if I miss a target it's my fault not the rifles. I have a 12ltr 300 bar dive bottle which gives loads of refills and I can get the dive bottle refilled about 30mins from home. My only moan about the HW100 is the low shot count compared to the competition.

    Pellet drop

Next time I go back to the mill I will take my golf range finder to get some accurate distance measurements. I have been using Accupells as they seem to be very accurate. Thanks for the info

    Pellet drop

What other options are there ? FAC air rifles would probably put holes in the roof sheets. Once the pigeons start to fly around the sheds they land on roof girders and steel work, these are easier to shoot but most migrate to the far end wall. As for hygiene I collect as many as I can. As for the Pigeons sat fouling all over the grain I would not consider a few dead ones left to rot would cause much problem.

    Pellet drop

One of my permissions is a grain mill which included two large storage sheds which are about 60 yards long. Feral Pigeons sit on the girders at the far end. Due to the huge piles of grain stored in the sheds I can only get to within 45 yards of the far wall. I have a sub 12 foot pound HW100 .177 that is more than capable of knocking the ferals down, but I'm to sure what the pellet drop is at 50 yards. I went there yesterday and shot quite few pigeons but missed loads as I cannot see where the pellet is striking the wall to judge the hold over. Could anybody suggest a decent scope for this type of work ?

    Boris on trial

Once a liar always a liar. Blamed everybody but himself. The sooner he is out of politics the better.
  15. North Yorkshire, I took the bottle into Pickering air guns this morning. They said several week and £50 - £100 as they need to send the bottle to Liecester for recertifying.
  16. I have just taken my 12 ltr 300bar bottle for refilling. It's now out of test. Any Idea how much retesting the bottles are and how long does it take to test them ?
  17. I have a pressure washer the problem is the Freelander then drops it's 4 bucket fulls of mud on the drive. SWMBO not impressed.
  18. I shoot on a large local farm, it includes some very muddy drivable tracks, I drive a freelander 2 which comes home covered in **** every time I go out. Looking to get something like a Jimny to do the mucky stuff How good are they and what would I need to spend to to get a decent one. If not a Jimny what other small 4x4 are there.
  19. Looks like 11/16th by 24 Tpi to me
  20. You are indeed been uncharitable. As I have milling machines and lathes and have done several other jobs on air rifles. I also manufactured new firing pins for my shotgun. I suggested I could take a look at his Shotgun. My farmer friend had not approached a Gun Smith for a quote. It was a friendly gesture by myself. At the end of the day the job was to complicated for my limited experience. The job will be put in the hands of a gun smith, irreverent of price.
  21. The gun is probable 60 years old. Definitely does not have disc set strikers.
  22. A local farmer has asked me to look at his shotgun as one of the firing pins is broken. I have renewed firing pins that are accessed by by unscrewing a collar around the pin and removing the pins towards the barrels. This Webley and Scott looks like the whole action requires dismantling. Looks like a complicated job. Any advice appreciated.
  23. We drilled a couple of fields six weeks ago. There were loads of pigeons on acorns and beach mast all around the fields. I set up on several occasions with decoys and a magnet The pigeons never took any interest in the decoys. Even now the pigeons do not seem interested in coming out of the trees.
  24. Konor it was a pleasure to help you. Next project for the lathe. A batch of GAT pellet pushing pins. Slightly fiddly and time consuming, but the fields are soaking and no Pigeons on the ground, so its workshop time.
  25. Loads around my permissions, all in Beech trees or on Acorns. Non on the ground even though we have quite a few newly drilled fields.
