  1. What's the LoP? And when are you up this way (Lincolnshire) anytime soon?
  2. Mine has this one for a year and never had a issue. Washed the cover a couple of times and still looks new. The Dog’s Bed Orthopaedic Dog Bed XL Black Plush 117x71x15cm, Waterproof Memory Foam Dog Bed https://amzn.eu/d/dstckcD
  3. If you have access to a decent line and it's what you want then go for it! Best dog on the foreshore I've seen was a Chessie for working. Never seen such a strong dog. Questionable temperament outside of that. But it was fantastic watch.
  4. Lincs Firearms had mine to me in just over 3 weeks of applying last August. I applied they came out 10 days later to see the safe I had installed. And my license arrived shortly after. I could not recommend them more for efficiency and just being generally nice people. I know we're scarcely populated here but I can't see why it would take so long elsewhere?
  5. From the right working bloodline sure thing. If you want a alternative I used to have duck tollers for wildfowling and they never let me down.
  6. Definitely not the pups fault. Like with your kids they need boundaries and not unrestricted access to you and your family. At that age the best thing to do is as soon as the pup gets over excited and starts jumping up or mouthing at anyone is to firmly say no, stand up and turn your back on it. Ignore it until it shakes it off (they will literally shake it off as if sodden wet) then praise the dog calmly when it's relaxed. Constancy on the dog has to remain calm at all times will also do you the world of good when out in field. Start building steadiness of not chasing around after or being chased by the children and keep the focus on you. Hard task but you'll thank me later when it's default is to be steady to flush and ground game. On a side note don't give the dog unrestricted access to toys etc. HPR's can become self serving/ self employed very quickly. He only has toys to play with when your interacting with him. You are the start and end of all fun.
  7. Where are you based? I just had 4 new firing pins and 1 hammer made between 2 separate gunsmiths. 2 firing pins was 140quid and 2 firing pins with a new hammer was 170quid.
  8. As above, I'm looking for a copy of this book on hpr scent Olfactory systems. Anyone got one please give me a shout with how much.
  9. I've got a lesson booked at Grimsthorpe for the New Year and a friend of my father's who shot for England 15 years ago is going to come with me weekly to my local ground to help with letting me know where I'm missing as sometimes I just can't tell where I'm missing or where I need to be. All game I've shot over the dog has been going away. I actually think I'm better in the field as my priority is making sure the dog has sat to the flush. In terms of clay shooting I'm very much a beginner. Nothing has ever come particularly easy to me. I've played sports at a elite national level due to making sure my fundamentals and technique were near flawless to make up for my lack of natural ability compared to others around me. My friend has a old ambidextrous Midlands O/U non ejector he'd lend me to practise left handed. @enfieldspares thanks for all your detailed information. I think the GENGHIS method is definitely going to be the way forward if it feels too alien left handed. Happy Holidays all! I'll update you on how I get on.
  10. Thanks! I know my gun has a fairly hefty cast but not sure about the 525 my mate has been lending me I'll ask him. How did you start retraining your eyes?
  11. Hi all, I've recently started shooting been out rough shooting behind my pointer and done maybe 300ish clays. I went clay shooting with some friends as I wasn't hitting alot to get some reps in. Didn't go great so I booked a lesson and it appears I'm extremely left eye dominant. The instructor put a patch on my glasses and things improved whilst under his expert eyes. I've been back a couple of times since with my friend's O/U as my SxS is in for repairs and had varying amounts of success. My end goal is to compete locally in some hpr comps in which you go out for 20mins with the dog and need to shoot 2 items of game with 4 cartridges which the dog has pointed. As I'm at a early stage in my shooting life would I be best to persevere right handed with my patch or go back to the beginning and get a left handed gun.
  12. If South of Boston, Derek at Simply Firearms and Ammo at Heckington isn't far. Derek Lee would be best if North side of Boston although his place is up for sale so not sure if he's taking new guns on.
  13. Hi all, I'm based in South Lincolnshire and new to the shooting game. Hoping to start off with some rough and walked up shooting and seeing where we go from there. Currently training a GSP pup to shoot over so taking everything nice and slow! Arp
