Ozzy Fudd
babbyc1000 and I went out today, to the grand total of 1 crow and a paintbrush having said that we only had 3 or 4 chances, so we did all right - and dont forget about that starling i bagged before we murdered the paintbrush should also say we drove past two cock pheasants on the way to the clay shoot (guns were in the boot ) and a very stupid pigeon came sailing over everyone at the shoot (why was i the only one to take a shot?! ) and there was a few snipe about when we went hunting in the afternoon, but nothing within range. ollie
Just out of interest guys; are you's still shooting woodcock? My mate and myself are going shooting tomorrow but dunno whether to go ferreting or woodcock. I sorta feel sorry for the little guys because of the weather we are having, it must be very hard for them to feed. Anyway I'll let you guys know tomorrow when I post my total bag. monkeyboots
ollie as i said even on boxing day i never shot at the woodcock so untill this weather melts away the snow i wont be shooting any woodcock the 1s i flushed where very slow and only flew a few yards before landing in again its been frozen soild in my area for 10 days now so the woodcock must be getting it hard here"s a few pics i took on xmas day of the snow outside my house and its now monday and the same ammount of snow is still laying so that gives you a idea of the conditions in my area Edited December 28, 2009 by monkeyboots
ollie
Yeh I decided against the idea of shooting woodcock today. I went ferreting and shot 10, great sport and the bunnies were in great condition. The woodcock surely are finding it really difficult to even feed at the moment and I won't be shooting them until we get a thaw.
monkeyboots
aye ollie i got a few shots at bunnys today flushed by the dog and they looked in great shape although i missed them they dog put up 12 woodcock but they where left alone , the farm i go ferreting at is all uphill drive to it along back roads and they are still iced up so will be a while before i get to it for a bit of ferreting, ended today with 2 teal and 3 woodies

Aled
Weather warmed up with us on Monday night, sadly it also rained heavily. As it was my only chance to get out we went out in the rather cold rain. Were pleasently surprised to see 15 but only managed a shot at around 5, missed all! Saw some pigeons, 3 snipe, and a rabbit. Glad i went out, as who knows when i'll have a chance again, also got to know the lie of the land a little better, as some parts of my permission had been off limits due to a barn owl. Snipe here from the forum also enjoyed the walk. Cheers Aled
