mattslaptop247
My license renewal papers came the other week, so I filled them in promptly and took them down to my local station along with £40 and my photos etc. When I arrived I found a sign on the door saying they were closed untill further notice! Not one to give in easily as the next station was 20 miles away I found a door with one of those disabled buttons that automatically opens the door. Hey presto I was in! I rang the bell at the desk and in walks a PCSO (happened to be one who asked me to move my car away from the front of the doctors surgery the other week! I was dropping the wife off for work!) Great I thought. I got my papers out and passed them under the glass screen. He mocked, "I don't want these", off to a great start. He proceeded to tell me that I was to give him the cash, he would process it and then I was to send the receipt to the address on the envelope with the papers, and they would sort it out! He took my money and told me to take a seat "in there", a waiting room about 6ft by 4ft with 2 metal chairs bolted to the floor. I couldn't believe it, I was being treated like a criminal. 40 minuites passed. "Can you pay be cheque instead, It'll be easier for me", I explained that I wanted to pay in cash and my bank no longer issues cheque books. Off he went again. Gone another 20mins or so. Finally he came back, gave me a receipt and told me to send it off with the paperwork. This was 11 days ago. I emailed my FLO today to find out if there was any progress. It's "on the desk" and they will be sending it back to the original station that I went to so that they could do the checks and arrange a home visit. So all in all, its taken over 11 days to send a piece of paper from one office to another, and after all that fuss it has to be sent back to where it came from in the first place, bloody ridiculous! Rant over!
Mungler
Erm which bit of walking into a police station wasn't going to make you feel like a criminal I think you will find that the approach of the staff and the internal decor are there to cater for their main trade. njc110381
That's pretty poor. Police stations aren't the nicest places to be I find. I can't think of a time I've ever been into one and enjoyed it! Next time get a mate to write you a cheque if you don't have a book yourself! Cranfield
Police Stations can be busy places, the postal service has worked for me every time.
CZ550Kevlar
When I take my paperwork to Maidstone or collect anything from there i'm always greeted with a smile and a biscuit or a choccie. But then I suppose that's the difference between a headquarters and a grotty station.

You think there's rough treatment at the local police station? Blimey my local post office is worse - specifically the bit where you collect parcels and recorded delivery stuff that was attempted to be delivered when you were out - what a bunch of miserable surly rude people. Oh yes, they have a sign up for everything.... no mobile phones, one at the counter at a time, no pressing the buzzer more than once, no smiling, no pleasantries etc etc

mattslaptop247
and so the saga continues...... Still no word back from the boys in blue, so I emailed the firearms dept, who in all fairness always get back to me straight away. They had posted it to my local station on 21st of this month. So I try to google my local station. No such look finding a direct number. I had to ring a 0845 number which put me through to the counties police depot. I tell them my story, who transfer me to the relevant guy. " Can't see you in my book" he says. At this point I was getting worried. Hetook my phone number and after about 30mins called me back. Just dropped through the post today, aparantly I went on to explain I work shifts and could i arrange a time for my home visit. "Can't do that, I don't know whose work it will be assigned to. I will pop a note on your file" Cant these guys just get their act together??!!!
