ME
WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE LAMPING TRUCK ? Anyone got any pictures of their lamping set up ? I know that Pavman and Al4x have some good ideas and a good set up. I am thinking about getting the welder and angle grinder out but before that happens, it would be good to get some ideas for the perfect lamping truck. ME
Check out >THIS ONE<. I like the skeletal ability of this to strip down for shooting from all angles and seats.
Imperfection
This has got to be the ultimate lamping truck cos it will go anywhere.
ME
Well done Impy. That should develop some discussion. SWB or LWB ? Heavy like a Frontera or Shogun or light like a Suzuki SJ or Daihatsu ? Pick up truck like a Hilux or convertible / sunroof ?
Edward
That is the beauty of the zuki sj/ landy seris 3 with the fold down screen and removable doors or something along the lines of a utv like a kawi mule or gator etc
mr lee
That SJ is pretty smart! Some serious work has gone into that! As said above, maybe a mule would be a handy tool? The ability to carry a load of gear in the rear, open front and sides, roof optional yet reasonably lightweight.
George1990
Check out >THIS ONE<. I like the skeletal ability of this to strip down for shooting from all angles and seats. Probably good for shooting out of, but looks like a hunk of crud. Anything with Land Rover on it will be the best
al4x
not got pics yet but the issue with most is having a decent shooting rest, shooting through sunroofs in the back is ok but you need a bid sunroof to get both shooter and lamper through it. Then you have the smacked ribs issue which isn't good. Front sunroofs are no good for rifle shooting as you don't have a rest so my money is on unsurprisingly a pickup as being best. make some seats to sit in the rear tub and make then the right level to rest on the roof and jobs good. Safety wise you can also put a rail round as well or even fabricate a wooden surround to keep you in, we have a driver who knows he'll get a battering if he gets too excited so we don't tend to get thrown about much. al4x
so the ultimate lamping vehicle that you have to get out of and walk round to the bonet to take a shot
shot shot
I havent had the chance to try it yet, but I reckon my mums freelander would be a goodun, it's the old model, so the back half of the roof comes off, and the seats fold forward. hey presto, pickup. add some roof bars and bobs your uncle
garyb
Frontera Sport SWB. 1 - Yes I know it's a Vauxhall, and therefore poo 2 - It cost me £300 from Ebay 3 - It passed it's MOT without any bother what so ever 4 - I can drive it through hedges, into iron posts - and really not give a flying chuff - it copes just fine with the muddy stuff too! 5 - The rear roof is removable and easily accommodates a lamp man and shooter The foxes of Hertfordshire would tend to agree! (that's if they weren't all fast asleep under a bush)

malkiserow
I've just got back from Harper Adams and I would say 90% of the 4x4s are landrover defenders and not a disco in the carpark! I really thoought jap 4x4s would be most but I was very wrong
gixer1
Merc unimog! - you can pass the steering wheel between the left and right seat so can take turns driving and shooting without moving!
