Rizzini Shotguns

The first O/U shotgun I owned was a S/hand Rizzini, I was shooting clays every week with it, a beautiful gun alas looks aren't everything. I had it about 3 months when it started to play up. Sometimes it would not fire the second barrel, other times just a slight touch on the trigger and the second barrell went off, quite dangerous. I took it back to where I bought it, they took it in and made a repair. It worked great for about a month then the same thing started again. The dealer was very good about it took it back and returned the money that I had paid for it. I can't speak about all the 3 different makers of the Rizzini, the one I had was an E Rizzini, apparently the E Rizzini was a problem gun not a great make. I am led to beleave the other 2 makes of Rizzini's are fine and reliable guns. I certainly would not have another E Rizzini any where about me, so if the one you are interested in is an E, take my advice and forget about it.

A friend of mine has had 1 for 25yrs without a hitch...He bought it new for £300 in 1984...Maybe they were made better back then...Or like whats been said already there was different quality issue's with the different makers....If it fits and it's cheap enough...I'd got for it..

I had one for ten years. The only problem i had was it occcasionaly fired both barrells! Mine was an E. There are others but they fetch much much more money.

Exactly the same thing with my Rizzini (don't recall if it was an 'E') so I kept it for all of a week. Yes, I could have got it repaired but I did do some searching on line and found that it was by no means an isolated case - as backed up by this thread. Dangerous horrible thing. It hurt, too.

For a few quid more I could have (and have since) got a good old used Beretta which do seem to be more reliable. And mine is - never cleaned, chucked in the back of the truck wet or dry, covered in dirt, blood and fur and never misses a beat.

I like it so much I may even get it serviced and cleaned soon!

I own a Rizzini o/u, not multi choke. The gun has fit the purpose as it was a gun bought for me when I was younger and it was relatively cheap. The only real problem I have had was that the gun ejects both shells even if only one shot has been fired and it doesn't matter what barrel you have selected.

There are (or were) three Rizzini Brothers all making guns.

Two were in Italy, one making run-of-the-mill entry level guns, and the other making fine guns.

The third brother set up in the states and still makes good quality guns

The Italian bros combined their operation a number of years ago into a new consortium of gunmakers called the FAIR factory, and the distinction between the "good" and "poor" Rizzini has disappeared unless you are looking at an older second hand gun.

Rizzinis are the factory's own brand name for FAIR guns produced in italy. In the UK they are imported and branded Lincoln. The German production version, imported also to the UK is Rottweill. The guns are also sold as Gasperini, and there are almost certainly more re-branding variations.

The FAIR factory is a purpose built state of the art production facility that makes guns and components. Many gun makers outsource to this factory for some or all their components.

The factory makes a range of guns from Basic through to hand finished superior models..

Is a Rizzini any good?

New, you get what you pay for, basic is basic and an entry level price, but at the upper level their guns compete with any of the prestige marques.

Second hand? When was it made? How has it been looked after? Whats the price? There will be good buys and bad, just check the gun over thoroughly and pay the appropriate price.

An old Rizzini ( aka Lincoln no2) usually distinguished by false side plates, is worth £200-400 depending on condition and spec, and will be a perfectly competent gun if its been looked after. Newer FAIR model ones in the Basic and Premier ranges are £350 - £800 2nd/H and very respectable guns. The new range from Lincoln basics through to best Rizzinis range from around £700 to £7000+.

Yes, I don't deny there may well be some good older E Rizzini's out there. The one I had was definitly a problem gun, also it only came with 3 chokes. Trying to get extra chokes proved a nightmare in fact impossible. I even tried the Stefano Fausti sisters who now run part of the Rizzini empire, to no avail. I would hate to have to try to find parts. I still say if it's an E, do yourself a favour walk away from it.
