go for it, they're pretty cheap and seem to last. Parts are cheap compared to the competition and they are pretty good size wise

Yeah they seem to be a bit tardis like and i have had a quick look at parts prices and there ok, hopefully i would'nt need to buy any.

i have heard some noise about the seats being uncomfortable - might be worth hiring one for a day to see what you think .

Funny you should say that I sat in one today and i was looking for the seat adjuster that was'nt there  i would only be going to and from work anyway so i dont think i would notice it much

Thanks men

Hiya, Got to agree with this...I drove one for about 8 months, it was a 54 plate with 90K on the speedo and loved it, great MPG , and it can keep up with the traffic on the Mway....apart from the seats...not the best on the market... a couple out another Ford from a scrappies might be worth thinking about...

i got one.... its great, well nippy.

lack of decent cubby holes in the dash though...my dash office seems to slide round all over the place..... slam the breaks on and the lot goes tits up..

mine also is the swb low roof one...its well too small.... i reckon the lwb high roof one would be great though...

We have about 15 Berlingos and 5 Diesel powered Ford Transit Connects at work. I`ve had a Connect for about 4 years and it`s just coming up for replacement - with a new style Berlingo.

I have no issues with the seating comfort, it handles well and carries more than the Berlingo. Unfortunately, all 5 of the Connects have suffered a catalogue of mechanical faults and are despised by the workshop fitters.

With barely 60,000 miles on the clock on a 52 plate mine has already blown up one engine. The wipers have a mind of their own and the "fly by wire" accelerator has packed up three times.

The other 4 in the fleet are equally prone to problems, but all different ones than mine.

It`s a great van to drive if someone else has to pay for the maintenance, but I would`nt buy one for myself.

But maybe we were just unlucky and bought 5 consecutively registered vans, all built on the same Friday afternoon.

I been looking closely at an 2006 model

But I reckon with vans its the luck of the draw  although I have had a few escort 55's witch were ok but needed looking after

The Kangoo I have had has been almost faultless, But I reckon it had broke everything before I had bought it so i fell lucky with it

The transits look solid are a fair size, but I have allways wondered about the Berlingo  Not heard anything bad about them reliability wise

Food for thought :sly: Keep opinions coming please

Im a citroen tech ,dont get me wrong the berlingo has a few minor problems but overall are a good van .We used to look after a few connects they did seem very prone to spinning the bottom pulley and ruining the cylinder head, as a result all our connect owners are now berlingo owners

hope this helps atb jim

As a work van I drive a new shape transit, but have also had driven a connect. I can't fault it, a good quick van and the LWB is surprisingly spacious.

Being a ford parts are cheap and loads of dealers. I would say reliability is no worse or better than any other van, every make has its horror stories.

My 54 plate Connect has done 145k and is going strong.

It depends what engine is in it, Enduro or Duratorq as to its reliability. Mine is an Enduro and to be fair I dont expect it to go on much longer. The Duratorq engines are in most decent Transits and 200K in not unheard of.

Fuel burn is pretty good, I do 450 on a tank. Maintenance wise, 2 sets of tyres, 3 sets of windscreen wipers and a regular service with decent oil is all it has cost me since I bought it off a builder 2 years ago with 55k on the clock.

Door locks needed attention a couple of time but that only cost me a bit of time to fix myself with a repair kit - but thats the same with any Ford - the locks are just rubbish.
