Very daft question

Not a stupid question at all mate.

Most of my Pigeon shooting is done on a Sunday and there's no law against it.

I believe that the law forbidding the taking of game on a Sunday was originally an anti-poaching measure.

Since it was compulsory for estate employees to attend Church, including the Gamekeeper, then Poachers would take advantage of the fact that the Keeper was in Church.

Bearing this in mind, if you have a Church near your permission, then it might be distracting for the service if there's a shotgun going off every few minutes nearby. Where this is the case then I leave it 'til the afternoon. :good:

I am not sure of the current law but at one time to shoot ,"vermin" ie pigeon rabbit etc you were required in Scotland to be engaged in crop protection. This is something my group does every spring at seed time and have never been questioned. Obviously we steer clear of the village churches at service time and do not shoot near occupied dwellings until 10 a.m.
