Colster
I know most ppls reaction to this question is just buy a Harris but has anyone actually tried these ones for sale on eBay. I have a limited use for a bipod so I won't spend £80+ on something I won't use that much but having a bipod would sometimes be handy, certainly if a £35 one will do the job. These look a lot better made than some of the usual ones I have seen so wondered if any of you have given one a go and what you thought. Would use it for FAC Air and .22LR Thanks
docholiday
You say you have limited use, then why bother, you need to re zero every time you put them on or take them off Doc

Colster
You say you have limited use, then why bother, you need to re zero every time you put them on or take them off Doc Now that's interesting... I know with my springer I have to re-zero if I'm going to shoot prone but I thought that was just springers. I usually shoot off a door window or over the bonnet and occasionally off-hand so assumed the bipod would be the same.
Breastman
You say you have limited use, then why bother, you need to re zero every time you put them on or take them off Doc It surely depends on the gun and how/where they are mounted. I use one on my Steyr SSG04 and theres no POI change at all. Shooting with mod on or off, now thats a different story . . . Back to the OP, i don't have it with me but theres an advert in GunMart this month and a shop is selling certain Harris bipods half price I remember it was nearly a full page ad and it was on the right hand page . . . . i'll have a look tonight Mark
docholiday
sorry had read the post as for rimfire .22lr, no experience with air rifles but it alters the zero on rimfire and exsp centre fire. doc
cooter
I know most ppls reaction to this question is just buy a Harris but has anyone actually tried these ones for sale on eBay. I bought one of those in 9-13" last year just to try. It was ok, and I only mean ok, so long as you check the nuts at the top of the legs are tight. It was stable at the lowest setting, but not stable enough at the full extent. The finsh was easy to scratch, and the pins that hold onto the QD stud had sharp edges on them, which scratched the stud. The glue came loose on the rubber pads and they moved, which resulted in grooves on the stock of my HW. If you arn't relying on them very much they are ok for short time use, but use with caution. I gave it away in the end. Cooter

cooter
The zero should stay constant so long as the barrel is fully floated.

bicykillgaz
You say you have limited use, then why bother, you need to re zero every time you put them on or take them off Doc hi doc i was wondering why this is and is the same with all .22lr. i have always used a bi-pod to zero a scope but have not noticed too much difference shooting prone i've always put misses down to my error, atleast i have something to blame it on now gary
Ali-C
The zero shouldn't shift on rim and centrefire if the barrel is floated. If it isn't the pressure exerted on the stock will make it touch the barrel and change the barrel harmonics. Shouldn't shift on PCPs unless the stock is moving and pushing the barrel to a different position. (If this does happen get it looked at, it's not right) Shouldn't use a 'pod on springers as the gun starts to recoil before the pellet has left the barrel (this is why a light, consistant hold is so important when shooting a springer), using a bipod means it can't recoil naturally, changes the recoil characteristics and therefore changes the POI. KANO
Never had a problem with my S410. If I'm shooting from a landy the bi-pod comes off. If I'm walking it goes on. Never had to re zero
