one of this years resolutions was to start/finish all the (wacky?) stuff i thought up last year (still havnt got round to finishing the home made night vision scope ). i mentioned this on here before, but only getting round to it now. at the start of last year i'd been complaining that there wasnt an awful lot of rabbits in the places we shoot, and had been thinking up a few different ways of simulating rabbit shooting. it all got brushed aside about spring time (got a place that was teeming with rabbits), but now ive decided to finally sort out my idea.

so, i give you (drumroll....)

THE BUNNY TRUCK (mk 0.5 prototype) :(

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

i picked this remote control car up on ebay for less than a tenner. the idea is to put a pole on top of it, with a rabbit sillohette on top of that, then one person drives the car about while the other tries to blast the target on top of the pole  better than clays, because you gont need to carry a trap or clays about with you, and you wont leave a load of broken clays everywhere. were going to mount the target on a pole to try and save the car itself being shot, and were also going to fashion extra armour for the car (just incase), probably out of a couple of sheets of tin (hope itll stop 6's at 30 yards)

waiting for the car to arrive in the post, as soon as i get it sorted ill let you know how it goes (but if it doesnt work ill never mention it again... :good: )

You should get JML to invest. I can't wait to see how this turns out

maybe :good:

though i know what will probably happen is ill spend hours drawing up the plans, trying new idea's, fiddling with the components, take my time over a few weeks building it and testing it, redesigning it, and tearing my hair out in frustration before finally come up with something that works amazing and that everyone would want, and would pay big money for! :hmm::sad1:

and then some gobsheen (aka mates richie or nigel) will put a buckshot shell through it the first day i show it to them

maybe we could crack open one of the old weapon caches and have a go at this

  • 2 weeks later...

quick update.

the car arrived in the post a week or so ago, two slight problems, firstly its the type with a lead sticking out the back and leading to a small controller, not r/c type, so its having to be set to go in a straight line (and then will have to be stopped somehow) by taping down the drive button, and taping the control box to the back of the car, secondly its only a 3 volt motor in it, so not the most powerful

but it will tell us if the general idea works or not. weve already refined the design, instead of mounting a target on top of the remote control car were going to drag one behind it about 5 or 6 ft, firstly to prevent the car itself being shot, secondly to save alot of hassle mounting a swinging target on top of the car. so were going to drag an empty plastic drinks bottle behind the car, itll be light enough to drag without any problems, cheap to replace, and should kick out to the side when shot, to indicate a hit

its still the mk 0.5 prototype, were trying to discover all the best ideas and pitfalls now before spending more money, but looks like itll be fun anyway, testing it out this saturday
