Fraud in UK

You Know, I have a problem with this.

I have a lot of patients that are on long term sick for one reason or another. A lot of them were encouraged into this role by the government as a way of reducing the unemployment totals. It moves them off job seekers and in to economically inactive.

Now our political masters have mucked up the economy they want to move all these same people off incapacity/ invalidity and back into the work place. Are they any less ill than they were when the government pushed them onto the sick.....NO....i don't believe most of them are. Yet now, now that money is in short supply (unless you are a banker in the NATIONALISED banks) THEY move the goal posts.

It is a bit like telling us on Monday that every one with athletes’ foot is unable to work on health grounds and then saying that they have changed their minds on Tuesday. Then accuse them all of fraud on Wednesday.

There is far to much political expedience here and not enough common sense

Benefit fraud is not good. Working whilst claiming or having an undeclared partner is wrong, but the vast majority of the loss would be to professional fraudsters:-

As for the estimated figure lost to fraud - you have to smile. A low estimate by any stretch of the imagination.

you'd be the only one in the country, Love to see what the revenue said if you said you wanted to declare £20 you earned every other week for 4 months of the year.

I have a musician friend who admitted on a tax return that he was paid 30 per night once every 2 months for playing in a pub (before the last licencing laws when it was still legal to have an "unlicenced" piano in a pub). The revenue decided that this was not the case and he must be doing it every week and not declaring it so they taxed accordingly - then up to prove otherwise, difficult as it was cash in hand. Ended up paying more in tax than he ever got payed as he had no proof.

Go expain if you can. :good::yes:

I think I'll offer the Government a 2 for 1 deal. I shop 2 fraudsters to them (easy) and they give me my £621back. Bargain or what?

No they can't do that, they need your tax money to pay for their second houses, plasma tellys, and moat cleaning, and what gets me is that with all that large scale fiddling going on, people let that slide and instead have a pop at the unemployed guy getting 68 quid a week, and before you start, I am not unemployed, on the sick or in reciept of any benefits at all, it just winds me up how "they" have got the working people of this country conditioned and divided. Listen, if work ws so good for you, them rich folk would have kept it for themselves, they wouldn't be letting us working class oiks play with it

if the country is so far in debt why has Gordon (the moron ) Brown just declared that the UK will pay two thirds of an estimated £75 billion every year to Africa to help ease global warming(HOW?), amongst all the other back pocket scams the government are playing, bailing out the banks, expense accounts that cover everything from a burger to a house.

i don't agree with benefit fraudsters (and by that i don't mean someone who gets the odd £20 every few weeks for whatever),but this government will never stop them most i know not all are foreigners, several years ago i tried to turn in one and the moment i said he was Lithuanian the bloke on the phone told me i could not report him it would be racist (a friend who work there actually said that they have several calls a day and cant do a thing their hands are tied with red tape)

at the end of the day it comes from the top until you can get the government to do what they are paid to do and work for the people (of this country) they are called civil servants for good reason, they are servant well paid to look after us the civilians

but somewhere along the lines they have got too much power and now just lord it up over us

take the expenses scandal you cant tell me that if that had bean you or i that we would not now be spending a short break at her majesties pleasure but what happened to them oh ye nothing

the government should do what they tell us to do with our kid and teach/lead by example

anyway thats what i think

thanks for letting me get that of my chest

i have been off sick for 9 yrs, living on 9k a year, trying to give my 2 kids what i can as well as the wife for all she does for me and my lads. government gave a grant for a new boiler but cant afford to put heating on so a waste i guess, cant afford to go out for a meal, to go out for a drink, i even had to give up smoking. havent had a holiday of any sort for the last 9 years. went and helped a guy out last week for 20 quid, yes doing beating. cost me more than £20 in fuel and i have been laid up, rather unwell since.

so please dont start getting on your horse, spouting off that most disabled people are taking the **** because you sir are out of order taring us all with the same brush. yes there are people that take the **** and they are getting caught up with. but it isnt MOST disabled, it is some.

i get p1ssed off with people saying there is nothing wrong with me as im out walking around, try stepping into my boots for a month and see how many times you end up on the floor in the living room, unable to move and how many times you get out and enjoy being out. only time i get seen is the good days, very few have seen the bad days

sorry for the rant but some people get my goat up as well.

And I bet that the major tax avoidance perpetrators are not included in the report.

Tesco's Bank is in the Cayman Islands and the Inland Revenue has been selling off millions of pounds worth of properties for thousands to companies based offshore, dodging VAT and capital gains. Top bosses with the inland revenue have then taken up consultancies with these firms.

I don't fiddle benefits, I'm self-employed and PAYE, but the idea of making an 'honest' living is a complete joke.

For the small amount of housing benefit that I receive I have to tell my local council what my income is every single week because it changes. I have to send them my payslip every month.

A politician can get £17,000 of my money in expenses for his 'second' home every year and he doesn't have to prove a thing.

Doesn't exactly smack of a 'just' society does it? :good::yes:

And in the face of such injustices, the "righteous" STILL persecute the "scum" who recieve benefits, as though they are the ones who are the biggest cause of all the fraud. I'd like to know how much money we would STILL be down if the benefits of all the English unemployed was stopped. Then perhaps we could address the REAL issues instead of falling victim to the divide and conquer tactics

.....If that is the case why are all those people living in the jungle and similar places round Calais desperate to get into the 27th on the list of the best countries to live in (behind the Czech republic and Lithuania) It couldn't be anything to do with the free money our authorities fall over themselves to throw at these people could it?

Where do you get your info from ? UNDP ??

Survey ranks Canada as best country for immigrants

A recent HSBC survey that polled immigrants in 50 countries shows that Canada provides the best quality of life for immigrants, and is the best country of choice for immigrants in the world.

Canada also provides the highest quality of accommodation for immigrants.

Second to Canada as the top country in the world for immigrants to live in and immigrate to is Australia, while the worst is the United Kingdom.

The poll showed that countries with higher salary rates per population, such as the United Kingdom, ranked lowest on the scale when it came to immigrants’ overall happiness and quality of life. In countries with lower salaries, such as Canada and Australia, immigrants reported a good quality of life and found it easier to transition to life in their new communities.

Canada’s immigration system has a Priority Occupation List, which speeds up the immigration process for people who want to move to the country and have a desired set of skills or occupation that is in demand in Canada. This makes Canada an especially appealing destination for immigrants whose career training fall under the occupation list, giving them a better chance at securing a good job in their field and improving their quality of life in their new country.
