Following on from the Clay day thread if anyone is interested please post your interest below.

Thinking of a fun day encompassing ESP, ESK, DTL which allows all to try new things and have a bit of a laugh at the same time.

Location most likely Bisley in Surrey.

If there is any interest i'll organise it.

Jon.

Have you seen the pay-and-play Sporting layout at Bisley? It is arranged around Long Siberia, opened last Autumn.

I used it to get my eye back in on the O/U in time for Beaters' Day, and I liked it. That's saying something as far as I am concerned as by and large I really don't like clay shooting much at all. That probably means my opinion doesn't count for much among the serious clay men, but it was just what I wanted.

Jon,

I started shooting (at) clays about this time last year. I mostly shoot Sporting but have also tried English Skeet (PB 21) and had a couple of goes at DTL (abysmal - don't ask!).

I might be able to join you, depending on when it happens. Sorry, but I can't be definite.

If you are planning for a Sunday meet-up, BSG Pay & Play will only be open Tue-Fri after 14th March until November, which makes the Sporting a bit of a problem if that's where you were thinking of...

Cheers,

Andy

was at bisley today unexpectedly....1st time there.... went on pay & play, and yes they mentioned something about opening days/times changing and to keep an eye on website for an update.

How did you get on? Last time I went I really struggled on stands 20 and 21!

Oops... don't want to derail the thread.

stands 20 & 21.... blimey.... didn't get that far John.

we turned up fairly late around 2.45pm, had a bit of a mishap finding the pay & play and ended up at the sporting layout where they give lessons... oops.

then drove off and found "Long Siberia" (the pay & play). shot stands 1-13... averaged 65-70%... by then a guy came round and said they were closing up (was just after 4pm at this stage).

1st few stands were weird... almost like a small skeet range. then they got a little better!

the stands where they do the lessons were far more exciting!

Ah, I've been starting around stand 7, and the first couple times I was deliberately choosing stands that would give me clays that were a bit like what I was expecting for Beater's day and when I was also hoping to walk up some pheasants and ducks on a rough shoot.

20 and 21 have a couple traps on high cranes waaaaaay out in the trees!

Maybe we could start a thread in the Clays section, I will be going back to Bisley P&P for sure.
