For me and Mrs Jega , we've had a standing order for a monthly donation every month for the last 10 years or so ,plus a little extra at Christmas time .Not all kids are as lucky and as loved as ours . Diceman
Personally I prefer the local charities rather than the big national ones, you can make more of a difference. Whatever you decide you are doing a good thing and I applaud you for it. Well done mate.
Beretta28g
Air ambluance i know someone whose life was saved by one and working wih guns and chainsaws and things accidents can happen. They are all worhy causes. If you do the clayshoot perhaps the top gun can choose the charity out of a list you provide him with?
smcgreg1
As these ppl have been a great help to me and my family how about Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID)? Most charities are a worthy cause especially when we have the misfortune to have to use them. Edited January 27, 2010 by smcgreg1
MPT1
I suggest that you visit any hospice particularly a childrens one. Your decision then would be simple.
ME
I was using this thread to gauge opinion before I chose the charity for the PW NORFF VS SARFFF CLAY DAY. In the meantime there seems to be a bit of banter and money going on the JustGiving page already - http://www.justgiving.com/pigeonwatch . Anyone who wants to just donate to the cause can do so on this page. This is NOT anything to do with paying your subs for the day but WILL be added to the total. If you have been living under a rock, have a look in the "Meet up" section. There are a few auction and raffle prizes already - >HERE<. Cheers ME
Mungler
My youngest had a spell in Great Ormund St. and so I am biased. He had a relatively straightforward op - at the time we were obviously at the top of the curtains. Mind you, you get in there and you wander about and look around and you start counting your blessings.
Windy
would choose two given the chance..... Air Ambulance and Poppy Appeal.
Blackbart
At the risk of being verbaly abused......Why did we go for Great Ormond in the end ? as it is way down in the voting.
ME
Hi Blackbart A good question. In fairness, I didnt even have to open it up to a vote. I did open it to a vote though - eventhough I had limited time. A decision needed to be made and the thread could have bumbled along for months. Air Ambulance had some good support but there are quite a few Air Ambulances and trying to allocate it to one was going to prove tricky. I was also aware that the money from the previous ESSEX VS BUCKS shoot went to Essex Air Ambulance. I looked at the comments in the thread and quite a few mentioned Great Ormond Street by name. I also used a bit of lateral thinking and added the scores for KIDS, CANCER and GREAT ORMOND STREET and went with it. A few PW members that I know of have had their kids at GOSH at some point, so I think that it has struck a cord with them and their families. If you want their forum names PM me and with their permission you can contact them to find out what GOSH has done for their kids. Whilst I appreciate that there are many other charities doing amazing work, it is an impossible task for me to keep all the people happy all the time. Thanks & best regards Matt / ME
