Old shooter New to P-W

Recommended Posts

Ello all,

I'm Worzel and I think I may be in a mid-life crisis, I used to shoot air rifles around 15-20 years ago, had a few guns but the best one was my HW-77 (177) and it cost me about £95 brand new with scopes, bag and a tin of pellets and as you do when your a teen I gave up the shootin for the 2 legged birds and booze.

Now I like a bit of sea fishing but want to get back into shooting again after all these years so thats why I joined on here as you lot know what your talking about and I can get lots of info.

Have been looking at lots of different air rifles, I especially like the Air Arms s410 / 510. BSA ultra.... That type of gun, something light and quiet for the bunnies. So in the very near future I am looking to rig myself out with the full kit.

Thank for listening.

Welcome to the forum Worzel.

You'll find that the modern air guns are a whole different ball game to the old springers. The pre charged kit you can get these days is so accurate and tolerant of poor technique that it's hard to miss!

The Air Arms would be what I'd go for out of the makers you've listed. If you want something a little cheaper the S200 is a great little rifle. I had one before I got my FAC and my dad could stand a cigarette on its butt at the end of the garden (25ish yards) and I'd shoot the ember off the end! To do that with a springer is near impossible but with a PCP as long as you're steady enough it will hit it every time!

Good luck getting back into the sport. There are a lot of good blokes on here so if you need any advice just ask
