Because the way the laws are written in this country, everything is prohibited unless specifically excluded. Semi autos are prohibited with the exception of 22 rimfires. That was written before there were 17 rimfires and it hasn't been revisited since (and won't be).

No it doesn't make sense from a ballistics standpoint, but that's how the game is played.

Thanks

Rick

Can anyone tell me the difference (balistics) between .22lr and .22wmr.

I there such a big difference and is the .22wmr better than .17hmr

Or should this be a different thread.

Cheers

Phil

In round figures the WMR are twice the power of High Velocity .22lr, and 3 times the power of .22lr Subs.

Bullet choice and weights are similar to .22lr but the WMR is faster and has a flatter trajectory.

300-320ft lb is common, bringing increased accuracy and stopping power, I love the WMR, gives me a great feeling of confidence!!

The advantage of the WMR over the HMR is stopping power, more weight, bigger hole, more energy; the minus is that it doesn't fly quite a flat...oh yes, another advantage is that WMR ammo is a little cheaper than HMR, but still much more than .22lr.

The WMR is not better than the .22lr or the .17HMR, it is different, they all have their uses and all have their plus points, that's why I have one of each!!!!
