gottsy boy
hi all can anyone help,? my five and a half month old lab bitch will not stop howling and barking in her kennel and run during the day, i walk her and give her breakie and then she goes in her kennal.. the run is about 3m by 10m so she's got good room to potter about she sleeps for about two hours and then just barks and howls and doesn't stop jumping up the cage.. i think my neighbers are getting ###ed with her now. bothbarrels
she's showing signs of stress, you need to put her in her kennel, and leave her for half an hour and go back to her, then leave her again for an hour then go back, keep increasing the away times but let her know you are always coming back, soon she will realise that she's not been abonded and wait for you to come back 9 well that's how the dof whisperer did it!) chandelierman
Get her a companion not much of a life being stuck in solitary confinement.
Wesman
Loads of options available. Already mentioned, activities in there. Make it a nice place to be. If she does something good, treat her in the run so she associates the kennel with nice things. Best option, get her a friend. 2 dogs are half the work
Lloyd90
Sounds a little bit harsh??? The dog is intentionally trying to get your attention by whining. Once is assosiates whining with getting bad attention then it will soon stop. I used a bowl to throw the water, not a full bucket. 3-4 bowls later and no more barking. ForeignGadger
Get her a companion not much of a life being stuck in solitary confinement. Spot on. She probably has "separation syndrome" ie is ****** off being on her own. My son-in-law's springer had this, and howled and starved himself because they were away at work from 8.00 until 5.00. They got another (bitch) and he put on weight, got better and is much less insecure. Not rocket science really. FG

lewis
Get another dog and give her some company. If that fails the bucket of water works pretty well.
lurchers
it sound like seperation anxiety, even if you get her some company it wont help,my lurcher was the same even with my older dog she would still eat the kennel every night just to be in the house with me even though she was born and raised in a kennel.try leaving the kennel door open so she can see you and keep popping in and out till she learns thats where she lives.atb
