Was joined today by wingnut ,ryan and stu for ago at the pigeons . Iput andy on some maize ,stu on the drilling and ryan on another plot of maize .

After an hour i moved andy on to some turned over beat tops as birds were dropping in there . It was a slow morning tho there was loads about but it hotted up as the day went on with ryan and stu getting most of the shooting .

Ryan shot very well for him :o and finished with 18 ,stu finished with 39 pigeon and a blackie ,Andy picked 5 and i had about 17 from the edge of a small wood just standing and picking them off as the came over the corner !

A very good day was had by all and even after we packed up they were still dropping in like mad but glad we did as it chucked it down ,the birds had alsorts in there crops ,rape maize, barley, wheat and even some beans .

Final bag was 71 woodies 7 ferals and 1 jackdoor

well done :good: good bag. I was out meself today shooting near barley drilling.i had to shoot at a little copse 200 yards from the drilling because it had houses down one side a public footpath down another and a main road in shot distance but wind was strong and whipped the birds round and came in range of me whirlly .so ended up with 23. but would have trebled that if i could have shot the field they wanted.enjoyed the day out with some brilliant sport :good:

Cracking day out, good weather, good lads, what more do you need, managed to pick 5 lost 2 for 9 cartridges.

Didn't get as many as the others, but thats not what its all about, its about being there, taking part and enjoying it no matter what comes your way.

I think we packed up at exactly the right time, it absolutely poured down, and after we finished i had to travel down to Bourne to see Bionicle and driving conditions were pretty attrocious.

One good thing about the journey, I took a wrong turn on the way home and ended up down a very small country lane in the pitch black, There were signs up warning about Deer, just driving steadily when an enormous deer leapt over a hedge in front of me, I slammed the brakes on and it just stood there watching me before sauntering off, it's the 1st time i have seen a deer on the road and boy was it big, Iam glad i did not hit it.

Nice bag - Im very jealous- went over Rape last weekend and to my utter dismay- the birds were all landing (In great numbers I might add ) on a newly drilled field across the road from me- not my permission -so I went home having shot just the 1 Pigeon- still theres always next time :hmm:
