Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
Dear all. Thought you might enjoy this at my expense Lunatic blonde lab has progressed to blind retrieves with mixed results. she still views the stop whistle as a personal challenge and insists on checking the decoy pattern just in case no matter what direction i cast her off in HA HA HA So without further ado i present china. Dead-Eyed Duck
and he used to sneer at my olde, wilful cocker spaniel Every day I see China in action I say "There is a God after all!" I see that he hasn't posted the pic of China in her cammo coat Don

Cranfield
I thought she did well for a blind retrieve. A bit more directional help when she was first cast off would have probably resulted in a quicker retrieve. A definite bonus is she retrieved the magpie, two of my dogs wouldn't pick up a dead magpie.

Highlander
I train my dogs NOT to pick up magpies and crows...they have large, powerful beaks and if not dead will peck at a dogs eyes. Even if they don't do any damage they can make the dog shy. Couple of weeks ago I lent one of my dogs to a friend to take pigeon shooting. End of day and I ask how did the dog do...great, well behaved, picked birds etc etc BUT I couldn't get him to retrieve the crows I shot. Spent ages trying to get him to do so but simply refused. Me laughing...he's been taught not to!
Delbert
Wouldn't send my dog on a corvid. same here they have a habit of not being very dead and also of attacking anything in reach not something I would take a chance on .

The last time I went out with Gonna he was trying to read a map upside down So, him trying to give the poor dog directional aid is, well, a non-starter. As for picking up the magpie - if it looks edible then China will have a go. Don
