I went home last night/this morning (3.15am) to find a man trying to get into my garage. Having never been in this situation before, I didnt know what to do. As soon as he saw me he ran like **** to get away, meaning I didnt get to se his face and give a description. I called the police and about 3.20am, and they didnt arrive until 4.00am, at which time, it was daylight!

From my house at that time in the morning, in 40 minutes, he could have been near nottingham.

Just got to keep my eyes peeled for the next few weeks because the copper who came out says he was probably checking out the area to come back another night.

What an event!

You got to be careful mate as the dirty ******** always come back. Had the same problem in the fens and the police sometimes dont even come till the following day. I've been told by an old boy up the local that he had the same problem, so when he rang the police he told them that he was getting his gun out and if he thought he was in danger he was going to shoot the thief. Needless to say there were 3 police cars on his drive in minutes. Obviously this isnt a great idea and im not sure if he suffered any consequences. Probably not as it was a few years ago.

Hope he doesnt come back and if he does the police get to you and catch the bleeder.

The trouble was, I phoned the police switchboard, I didnt know if it was serious enough to phone 999, but the PC said do that if I see or hear anything in the future. At least I know now!

Had a break in a few years ago. Was working in the workshop one morning and a van with a couple o ****** turned up asking about doing some work on the track, before I could get out quick enough they had got to workshop door and saw what was in it. Told them to sling their hooks but couple weeks later I was borken into. They got a load of powertools and even managed to nick my ride on lawnmower which I was storing there through winter. :good:

They do come back the #####.

I have got a security light I am going to rig up next to the garage, hopefully that will put them off.

Burglars are the scum of the earth. The house has never been been broken into but i've had a few thefts from my car, once they even took the back lights :hmm:

About a month ago a ***** in a transit van parked up in the middle of my small cul-de-sac (and i mean the middle) and started knocking on doors. I was the only one in out of the 5 houses and when i answered he tried to have a good look past me. He asked about tarmacing the drive  and when i said no he went back to the van but didn't leave. So i went upstairs and got some good pictures of him and the van but couldn't see the license plate. So i literally walked up to the front of the van and took a picture of the reg and his face close up, of course he shot off as soon as i was out of the way, they're absolutely shameless

i remeber going fishing a few years back down a local river, parked up scrambled down bank, fished for about 10 mins at most before decideing to try further up river, got back to car to see a youngster sat in my driving seat.local druggie he was, knew me aswell, when i opened the door he nearly melted,"you can have the radio he said" :hmm:? i said it s my car ya plank.... he thought i wanted a share of the goods or something. luckily i had my mobile with me so rang 999 ,told them and they said a cop would be there in a couple of minuites, well soon has he heard that he went abit mental, bit of a scuffle and he fell on his face and broke his nose, blood everywhere when police turned up,but luckily they beleived my side of story, then he went mental again when they tried hand cuffing him,so they sprayed him ,that must have stung his eyes and nose lol. some people just dont learn.:blush:

Honestly mate, I'd be moving any gear you have for a while if it's at all workable.

They are particularly bad around here at minute.........mother in law was broken into a few weeks ago as well.

Couple of weeks after she had been broken into they actually caught them in the end, as they had sightings of the vehicle involved and it had been seen on several farms and rural villages when theft had occured. They were actually caught when a farmer saw a suspicious vehicle in one of his yards so drove to his front gate and parked a vehicle sideways blocking them in. They drove straight through several gates (4 wheel drive pick up) trying to get away.

Trouble is, the yard isnt concrete, just stone

There are two varieties. One for concrete, one for other stuff.

Dig a decent sized hole (make sure it goes to the inside of the door too) then sink your big F-Off bolts into it. These only work for over-under garage doors, but they do work!

Be carefull of the mines type jobs, I've heard of burglars sueing for damage to their hearing.

Don't trust your security light - A mate of mine had his stock trailer nicked and his shed's broken into - they either rammed his electric gates or pushed them hard and broke the screw opener then turned all sensors down to face wall - must have stood there for a while till sure no one had heard then scarpered with takings - also make sure "everything" is insured

My van has been done once on the drive diddies from norfolk according to forensics, didnt get anything £1000 merc dead locks work  ,werent bothered by camera or flood lights and i never heard them, have now fitted BIG shoot bolts around garage door and alarm, and we now got BIG german sheperd, just a pain when you have to do all the locks to get in garage but well worth effort and teaching the dog to bark when anyone approaches sends shivers down ya spine, and he knows that if he gets to answer the door with you he can be as bad as he wants, nice to know ya got someone watching ya back and wont leave no matter what

Oh and they WILL be back :hmm:

The hoover was on the landing.

I knocked out the light in the bedroom where I caught him with the pipe.

And then let him have it.

The chase went across several fields until the police joined in.

I was nearly charged, except that a knowledgable sergeant intervened.

I had a great deal of trouble with being in the house alone again for several years.

Looking back over 20 years ago it is interesting but at the time, quite scary.
