lowlander
ive recently joined a new shoot and would like to get a new gun that will only be used for game shooting, ideally its got to look really nice and traditional, and be light enough to carry over long distances, i dont mind if its a side by side or an over and under, has anyone got any ideas

Devon Fox
I am in the same boat - looked at a few proper w&s guns, very nice, liked the AYA no4, but my favourite so far is the berreta silver hawk as it feel similiar to handle as an ou although not to traditional
lowlander
even though i was really looking for a nice old side by side, ive always liked the beretta silver pigeon range, and as these are more modern they should also be more suitable for duck shooting because i can shoot steel shot through them (i think), i really fancy a silver pigeon s and at secondhand prices i think i may be able to afford one after a few months of work what do you all think of that choice? lowlander
al4x
a much better choice than a side by side, simply because I would imagine you'll shoot better with it which always makes driven days more fun
rimfire4969
Have a look here very nice condition, very few shots light enough to carry all day good enough for any shoot. Now open to sensible offers. You would not be disapointed. These i am told are getting close to £2000.00 new

Devon Fox
I currently use a silver pig - nce guns, personally I fancy a nice ss - used a beretta eell last year and found I was shooting better and moving the gun smoother. You won't go wrong with the pig.

sitsinhedges
I shall be selling my 6 month old silver pig S shortly, it's 20g and made for walked up game shooting (which I can't afford to do) It's also got the best S wood I've ever seen  It's far too good for the nettlebashing that I do Edited June 21, 2010 by sitsinhedges

It is a very pretty gun with lovely wood and in my opion I shoot very well with it. As for being too expensive, think of it the way I did, "how many things can you buy now, that will actually increase in value". A well purchased EELL will probaly earn you more money now than cash in the bank You can get a very nice one for around £3k and anytime you want you can get your money back, but I bet you will never sell it I would not sell my for £6k, I could never replace it. welshwarrior
My AYA shoots very nicely but I find no difference in shooting a well fitted SBS and a fitted OU. My Beretta 682 has a game stock fitted now but is still heavy to carry all day, great for clay and pigeons etc tho. Walked up shooting is not really an option but a formal day with less walking I may take it. IMHO you can't bet the feel of a Sidelock the triggers are just nicer and they swing and move beutifully. I have not used an EELL so that may be the same. Buy what makes you confident and you shoot well with, it only you the gun needs to impress. 1 Cartrigde to 1 Kill ratio is the same with a H&H or Hatsan
lowlander
id absolutely love to own a eell but id be too scared to take it out, ive decided on the silver pigeon s as its everything im looking for and not too expensive but i dont know if i should go for the fixed choke with 1/2 and 1/4 or the multichoke incase i ever need to change them for anything, the fixed 1/2 and 1/4 should do everything i want but i still dont know which to go for I shall be selling my 6 month old silver pig S shortly, it's 20g and made for walked up game shooting (which I can't afford to do) It's also got the best S wood I've ever seen  It's far too good for the nettlebashing that I do sorry mate but i want a 12 bore lowlander Edited June 22, 2010 by lowlander
