Beretta28g
Pest Expert, Be careful what you post, police could read this forum to. A gift in the eyes of the law is where an item/s is transferred with no monies changing hands. Beretta
dazza
Why can't the person your going shooting with buy them? Your asking someone om here to break the law. I take it you didn't get your SGC you applied for in February? Maybe the rules are different over there?
Beretta28g
You have to be 18 to purchase fire arms and ammunition Firearms Amendment Act 2010

Most clay grounds with section 11 exemption can sell them to none SGC holders for use on the ground.....(not sure how the age change effects this tho....) apache
Is there no one in Hampshire who will help this lad out? In the same situation we all should.
guest1957
It's not something that affects me, but I am amazed that the new government passed the 2010 ammendment act. To bring us in line with the rest of europe shouldn't be justification for anything!!

Dekers
He likely bought them from his RFD. End of last month it was stopped until 18 I seem to have missed something here, can someone please confirm!! I was under the impression this was NOT historical, only future, ie, anyone who already had the "goods" was ok, but no new being issued until 18... Did I misunderstand this, you let the guy keep his gun but not buy ammo Seems daft to be able to walk into a RFD with a SGC clearly showing guns LEGALLY held but refused ammo purchase! A 15 year old can be 'gifted' a gun and have it in their own name on their own SGC. They cannot buy a gun or ammo until they are 18. Previously that age was 17. If you were 17 before the end of last month and have bought guns or ammo you will no longer be able to buy any more guns or ammo until you turn 18. But you can keep the guns or ammo you already bought. It's quite simple

It's quite simple Thats the bit I was confused about, it makes no sense to be able to keep guns and ammo you already have at 17, but not buy any more until you are 18, I understood it was NOT retrospective on current holders, only future, if that is the case the stupidity of the firearms laws shows yet again! So it is down to the RFD now to refuse a 17 year old Shotguns/carts when he walks into the dealer with a VALID SGC!
apache
So it is down to the RFD now to refuse a 17 year old Shotguns/carts when he walks into the dealer with a VALID SGC! A ten year old can have a valid SGC! You think they should be able to buy shotgun carts? Think of the age thing a bit like a condition on a FAC!
