ricky green
 Just starting a thread to see how many of us shooters who use lightforce lamps have had trouble with the (wireing, blowing fuses when used of car lighter sockets, ect, ect,)the beams are good but is build quaility as good,.and how they have bin fixed??? Look forward to reading the replys.
humperdingle
Lightforce lamps have superb light-throwing ability. But the wiring sucks. I soldered connections wherever possible and also replaced the inline switch to something more positive. If Lightforce would just sort the wiring, they'd be unbeatable. camokid
nothing but problems mate i have the scope mounted one 170 and its **** i have changed the swith and rewired the hole thing i found they brake very easy on the solder joints to help that i put a thin allen key cut of and then heat shrinked it on. so it would not bend for the money they are a bad build
sleekitfox
If you are using a 100 watt bulb it will blow the fuse, only use 50 0r 55 watt bulbs
mick miller
They are kacka, nice light thrower but boy does the quality suck for the money. I've repaired three for people so far, always the wiring and switches, plus the red filter is designed in such a clever way it throws light back at you, necessitating a half reel of insulation tape to be wrapped round the bloody thing. Handy that. If someone other than Lightforce could design a similar, but superior light (which surely can be done for the money you pay) they'd simply clean up! Beardo
again rewired mine with straight flex after the useless coiled cable damaged the connections. anyone used the Ucaller clone versions?

Blackbart
I have just re-soldered mine before it breaks ! I was in the position of just squeezing on the trigger a few month back and everything went dark all of a sudden :look: Took everything out of the handle and soldered all the connections. One thing i found that has helped is to use a 12v supply plug and NOT the cig lighter as it gets stupid hot with the cig socket but nowhere near that hot with the 12v plug. Evil Elvis
:look: I completely re-wired mine as i bought it second hand and it had a few issues...never looked back, super reliable,,, fab bit of kit!!! i have the 170 Only wish is that they did a flip up lens cover,...its fiddly if you have a set of eyes in the lamp and your not sure whaty it is with the red filter, its fiddly to get it off for a positive identification. Yep, but first check the supply plug rating. For example my 170 plus 100w bulb pulls about 7+ amps and the Ford Ranger (Iknow, shouldn't have bought Ford) plug is 8 amps max. Evil Elvis
What a good idea! good.gif Patent that! HMMMMMMMMM i have gone through more deben belt packs than i care to remember im using the deben belt with 2 pouches but havent wired them together.I get about 3-4 hours out of each battery so when one starts to get dim, i switch it over. That way i know how long i have left, if you wire them both together you wont know........ those light weight ones are the biznis, Raja Clavata has them, only draw back that i can see is that when they run out its: Bink...gone!! Otherwise super light!!!

scotland rifles
well i have the sucker mounted one on the 4x4, and i have had to fix it 2 times both my fault, As for the overheating of the plug this is caused but keeping the lamp on to long and this causes the spring in the tip to start to heat up like a toaster element (like the one in your kitchen), i remove this and replace it with a heavy duty one, problem solved. the 140 lamp should be used with no more than a 75 watt lamp filament and the 170 and larger models have enough room in the reflector elements for the use of a 100 watt lamp filament, the coil cable is toughened but its counterpart its soldered to is to flexible so you have the stronger one winning all the time, again if you can get away with new cable do so and the problems should be eradicated. bob.
