Little Munty

Went to a nice spot that I know I can over look some fox & deer action yesterday. The evening was nice and still and the sun was still warming me. I got into position over looking the edge of this small woods at around 7:30pm, and enjoyed the sounds of the country - a green woodpecker was bleeping away, the crows and pigeons were cooing and cawring and in the distance a fox was calling. 20 minutes later I started to open my flask and pour a cup of tea when I looked down to see a little munty out of the woods - I never see them come out, they just appear, as if by magic! My .243 was laying next to me, round in the mag, bolt back, on the bipod. I slipped over to it and closed the bolt once I have a good view of the deer in the scope. Deep breath and let of a shot - it is still very noisy even with the P8 on the end! I saw the deer drop like a stone and lay perfectly still. A moment later I was in the truck, and on my way to it. The shot placement was a perfect heart/lung shot, and there was a very small entry hole and a small exit wound. Google earth tells me it was a 163m downhill shot. A very happy boy, and the freezer has been given a top up. And yes, I did get to have my cup of tea ... eventually

Nice 1 mate. Hope it makes good eating, I have never tried munty but Im told it is very good. Ive also been told roe taste dont make good eating? is this true?

We have roe and munty on some our permission and have been told by the land owner that we can take what we want. What calibre rifle would you recommend for shooting the above plus fox?
