Lord Geordie
Had a handfull in the past First was a Crossbow 15 foot yaucht which I spent a small fortune on restoring the woodwork. Called it the Myrtle Jess after my 2 grand mothers Had a 4 hp johnson O/B and a Seagull reserve Second was just a 9 foot dingy with a 3.9hp Volvo engine The third was another project I bought. It was a Microplus about 18 feet that had been damaged when someone tried to remove the captains chair and split the hull open (about 2 feet) Spent a week sorting it with my Dad who is a time served fibre glass laminator (30 years) working with glass and Kevlar etc. Had the boat repainted and anti fouled had the GPS System etc and a cracking 15hp evinrude full remotes. Never got to even launch it as one week someone tried to nick the outboard so we secured it to the transom and locked it down. 2 weeks later they returned and in trying to remove it they smashed the transom and engine casing
rigwallet
Yeah, living on a boat is really good fun, and there's a good community here. I have a squirel woodburner that does my hot water too, so I spend a lot of time scavenging wood. A chainsaw is essential. Have you tried a diesel boiler, like those you get for lorry cabs? I think you might get away with one of those in a fibreglass boat. I also use an oil filled radiator when it's not cold enough for the woodburner. Haven't seen the narrowboat programme on the telly. I don't have sky. diesel boiler whats that never heard of one more info please my friend
rigwallet
My family used to own and live on a converted Naval Pinnace called "Espior" back in the early/mid 70's on the Thames at Kingston on Thames. I used to worked as a fully licensed Board Of Trade skipper on the passenger steamers out of Kingston, Windsor, Reading and Oxford (Salters Steamers) I worked on the following boats:- The "Goring", The "Streatley" The "Sonning" and the "Mary Stewart", I also worked part time on the Caversham Lady and the Caversham Princess at Pipers Island at Caversham Bridge in Reading! - It was a great life but only seasonal.More recently, up till about 14 years ago I used to own and work a small "20 foot" shrimp boat called the "St Margaret" at Fleetwood! hey your my new skipper cost me £600 far three days training to handle boat should have gone on pw first

Lord Geordie
diesel boiler whats that never heard of one more info please my friend I think he means an Eberspacher (spelling)? It's a Heating device that uses a small amount of diesel to heat a heat exchanger than a fan blows the warm air through the vents into your boat. Thay have thermostatic control and timers etc just like central heating in your house. They are fantastic things well worth investing for comfort reasons Small boat you should get about 8 hours of heat from 1 litre of derv puishing out about 1200w of heat Take a gander and see for yourself. http://www.eberspacher.com/ LG Edited August 13, 2010 by Lord Geordie

John_R
I have a 45' narrowboat, which I used as my office for over five years. Great fun, though business has moved on and I no longer use it for that. If I can raise the money I want to replace it with a nicer boat and use it for holidays etc. I also have a few dinghys/punts etc. I should do a clearout and flog a couple really! t jack
Hiya, Till about a fortnight ago, I had a Seahog Shortie called Alien One, coupled to a 4 stroke 50hp Mariner O/B with the Bigfoot Gearbox...had all the toys, DSC VHF radio, Lowrance F/F, and Lowrance Plotter, spent loadsacash on it. I used her for sea angling, mainly in the Sound of Mull after Common Skate., and had a few too, to 176lbs aboard her...BUT, when I discovered shooting, she had to go to finance my new love.. Here she is on a cold wintery day....Great fun... alright Norrie, long time no speak!!?? atb Will from thurso (ex anglersnet)
