Harnser
Talking to my farmer friend the other day and he said that he is only a couple of weeks or so from the beet harvest . Any new shooters on here who have not shot sugar beet stubble before should be keeping an eye on the sugar beet fields as they are harvested . The harvest season can last from early october through to late january . Pigeons love the chipped beet that is left on the fields after the harvester has lifted the crop . I have had some wonderful days on beet stubble and always look forward to the harvest starting . If I can remember ,my best day on beet stubble was in excess of 2 hundred birds . Keep your eye on your beet fields . Harnser . Edited September 7, 2010 by Harnser

True that, keep your eyes out, we used to get some of the best shooting on the sugar beet here but after the local beet factory closed down the farmers dont grow it nomore

Definetly worth watching beet fields they love beet chits and will provide good sport for those lucky enough to have shooting on land not running pheasant shoots.Although farmers can get concerned if you are pushing them of off worthless beet chits onto a crop of more value just be aware of what is around you it will pay of in the long run. We have about 250+ acres of it being harvested this week so planning getting out there on the weekend.
