if you were to design your own ideal skeet/shooting vest what features would you add??

 

would the idea of a extra cartridge pocket similar to the front 2, attached to the back at one side be popular

 

any ideas or features people would like to see added to a vest?

An inner shoulder pad holder to help compensate for the differance in winter/summer clothes. they were a regular feature some years ago. from Auntie

Here are a few that i can think of:

 

2 or 3 plastic D links either side to hang towels, pick up sticks etc off

 

Don't make the cartridge pockets to fit flush on the larger sizes so you have to fight you way into them.

 

Enough capacity to hold 110 catridges or so, your idea of pockets on the rear is good, need to be covered in case it's wet.

 

In a colour that's good for the temperature and cool,

 

Drink bottle holder with liner, think Lucozade Sport, water etc.

 

Velcro hoop area on the front and back so you can change badges between shoots.

 

Loop on the front for spare\secondary glasses.

 

Choke tube pockets.

 

Hope that gives you a few idea's

Before i bought one i toyed with the idea of a tool belt with pockets that take a cartridge box and have 4 of them

im in talks with a supplier to have some made up to my design so you may see some of these ideas added .

what material vest do you all prefer ?

110 surely the weight and the feeling of being pulled down will affect your swing, better to use a bag

The Barbour one suited me - it had one big pocket across back which I got mrs to sew up down middle - so if you can come up with a Cotton jacket with two front and two back pockets I will buy one.

By the way does anyone know if these Barbour jackets are still available.

If that is what you need when you go clay shooting Harnser then yes I suppose you will need a pocket for them.

the pockets are double pockets

Looks quite smart, not revolutionary but smart, just make sure 25 carts fit in each pocket as openings look tight. I tried on a Musto lightweitght jacket yesterday and it wasn't great at all. less competition in jackets than vests

Seriously though I think most things have been covered.

 

Perhaps a pen slot in the top pocket?

 

A more generous "pie eaters" flap on the zipper so you can allow for the extra layers on cold days better than most makes do.
