Went to a local clay club yesterday pretty early so nobody about,

parked beside a 4x4 truck open back one and heres three shotguns

lying in the back,no covers gunslips security or anything, anyway

the guy who owned the truck walked up to get his dog out and

over to us beside his truck, I mentioned bit dodgy leaving them

lying there and his answer was, Im just the taxi driver mate the

guys who own them are shooting just there on the stand behind

the trees,I told the guy they should be inside the truck and not on

full view and especially parked beside the woods out of the way.

He then decided to cover them with his jacket and walked away,

That done we finished our shooting and left it was around 11.50,

on the way back we called into macdons for a burger and here

again parked behind the place was the truck, now with 5 shotguns

just lying in the open back, windows down dog trying to get out and

now loads of people in the car park,we went for our burgers and heres

four of them sitting chomping on gear that was going to take about

half an hour to clear,I just looked at the guy and shook my head,

deep down I think he knew what I was thinking as he stood up

to check on his truck said something to his mates and went and

sat in the drivers seat,we got our stuff and went back to the car

and noticed thrown in beside the guns was around twenty boxes

of cartridges the guy just looked and said allright, to which I replied

its idiots like them who get everyone into bother and if you get

pulled your all in the **** he never said a word and turned away.

sort of makes you understand why people wanna tighten gun laws

with plonkers like these knocking about. security? yeah right I could

have took the lot and been on the motorway in less than two minutes. ???

You should have whipped the shotguns away ith you and if you wanted to be really awkward, handed them into the police, see them explain that one to the FLO!

trouble is you knwo whod be in the $#it then...theft of a firearm etc etc...! these people get away with it but should be pulled up for it ..nice one for standing up and giving him a shake up!

I don't know. As a SGC holder you can legally hold any shotgun for 72 hours. If I found one lying around in public I'd pick it up and then take it to the police explaining the situation. If you see something in such a blatent disrespect for the publics safety and the guns secure keeping I should think taking it straight to somewhere safe could only be seen as a good thing?

72hours yes, but only with the owners permission surely??

i wouldnt touch it, i would leave it where it lies and call the fuzz, stay near it and make sure noone else touches it

in the above case take the photo and call the police, you have photo evidence incase they get going before the police turn up

well done for saying something though, hopefully the ****** will think twice next time they take ther guns out!
