tony-devon
Hi all, nothing for me to get really worried about as I still cant hit a thing LOL, but was browsing online at the local grounds website and noticed that they have classified opens some of it makes sense, but was looking for a guide online, or if someone has the time, an explanation of the classes, how they are maintained and monitored etc? on the score sheets I saw AA, A, B, C, B/O and U/C I presume that AA is the top dogs, but whats the scoring cutoffs etc I shoot gallery rifle, and they have similar classifications, but strange rules like you cant ever go down a grade, so in some Im X class for ever now, no matter how bad I shoot for the rest of my life LOL unlike my golf handicap, that can go down as well as up (like all good investment adverts) LOL
HDAV
CPSA manage the classifications and IIRC you can go up and down, AA is top B and C lower B/O is birds only (not submitted for scoring) U/C unclassified? Mr Potter
CPSA manage the classifications and IIRC you can go up and down, AA is top B and C lower B/O is birds only (not submitted for scoring) U/C unclassified? Reviewed every 6 moths details here: http://www.cpsa.co.uk/classification-system B/O is birds only but the scores are submitted and do count for classification, the only differance is that the entrant is not paying for and is not included in the prize fund. The above is true of CPSA registered shoots but some "straw bale" (and believe me I'm not using that term in a derogatory way) shoots have their own version of a classification system where it is only the results from that shoot count towards it. Hope that helps Mr Potter
Bigweed
I see from the CPSA web site that the new cut-off points (issue 39) for classification have been published - threasholds for ESP and Skeet dropped a tad - that'll catch a few sandbaggers out CPSA cutt off Edited November 17, 2010 by Bigweed

paulos
Are you goin' daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarn, then? Yeah, I've been dumped down to A class in skeet and sporting. I don't mind really though as I've only really done tougher shoots, so I don't really feel I've shot that much worse. I haven't been shooting enough skeet so can't really grumble at dropping down for that. At least I might get a bit of dosh again
JonD
Well.. I'm happy to have just avoided the back end of B class in skeet after my first season If i continue to shoot how i did last weekend in a reg'd (93) then the next round i'll be in B, if i improve poss A, not a sandbagger at all but need to make the change to shoot maintained lead for skeet instead of swing through. Only shot 1 reg'd sporting and will be C if i get classified and C for SKD. For the OP, clubs do have their own classifications also. I'm in AA for skeet, 3rd overall this year and A for sporting but sitting at the bottom. Jon.

Reviewed every 6 moths details here: http://www.cpsa.co.uk/classification-system Note, B/O does mean "Birds Only" but B/O ARE submitted for scoring in a Registered shoot. The difference between B/O and Comp is whether or not your entry has paid the extra to enter you into the prize fund. ALL registered entries are returned for classification, birds only or comp, at a Registered Shoot.
