pavman
as above....decoying is for woman Pass my sligbacks sweety I use the silly socks on the marsh and stubble and they certainly make them drop in as long as you set up in the right area (homework/fieldcraft)a lay the right pattern, only a chancer would head out on a goose flight not knowing the flight lines or feeding area as that is called Pot Luck! If i am going to get up at 4am I want to get a shot! I pack 40 deeks into my backpack for next to no weight and still have plenty of room for other bits, i tend not to use a hide as I lie in the Dykes and dips and cover the dog with a bit of scrim and stand when they get within shot. I have had just 9 geese so far in 5 visits and each time out apart from one blank I have had a bird(s)happy with that
Terry P
Thats a good average pavman and your spot on about learning the flightlines etc, proofs in the pudding.
henry d
The thing that strikes me, possibly just me, is the white bars on the tails and I wonder how many people who decoy geese actually paint them like the real birds tails ? I don`t go with the "If they can tell the difference then they will be in range" answer neither. Nice one pav, I too will come out of the closet and say I decoy inland Never tried it on the marsh though !

Nice one pav, I too will come out of the closet and say I decoy inland Never tried it on the marsh though ! Cattle marsh Henry not salt marsh, most of our shooting on the Geese is over wet cattle marsh when the cows come off Nov because the ground is to soft, the Pinks like to graze the marsh once the beet tops are turned over and we get a few lumps of Grays in among them and the odd Bean (oh err Mrs) lots of Gypies but seldom any Canadas in the bits of Norfork I shoot
bop
Nice one on the geese. I just got my first after a week of trying. I used sillosocks and Texas rags. Got 1 and I'm happy! But..... I might try again!!
