  • 4 weeks later...

One of my shoots is a dairy herd farm and the stuff they get to clean the milking gear with comes in bags inside strong plastic buckets that are 21" tall with a lid, this fits inside my decoy bag with the hide nets and other bits and pieces inside. If you want the seat higher do what i did and get some polystyrene cut 2 pieces the shape of the bucket lid and tape them together using gaffer tape...it also acts as a nice thick cushion so easy on the rear end... :P :P :P

I have used a heavy duty plastic 25 ltr shell hydraulic oil drum in the past.

If you have access to a bandsaw or jigsaw a piece of ply slightly bigger than the top and screwed onto it is usually very good once you have broken the edges off with some sand paper .If the drum is h/duty a small opening cut in the side will allow for a net and small equipment to be stored , just be careful not to cut to big a hole in the side!

Might be worth trying the nearest industrial estate or machine shop .

best of luck :good:

I use a large black plaster`s bucket, they are about 2.5 feet tall, they cost £7, they stack, you can carry stuff in them, they are really strong, tall, have a handle,I then got a kneel pad from screw fix and cut a circular disc same diameter as the base to sit on and this sits inside the bucket when not being used, best seat I`ve used in 25 years shooting ( I have tried them all), light, strong, cheap, and fit for purpose. doesn`t need to be camo, as birds only see in light to dark spectrum.
