Your dad would need permission to shoot on your permission from the land owner. An "open" ticket does not grant you any rights to "start taking people out"; unless you mean that in the context of shooting people, which an "open" ticket still does not grant. A "open" ticket allows you to conduct your own risk assesment for the suitability of land for shooting the calibre to which the "open" condition applies. You still need the land owners permission to shoot on the land. The "open" condition does not grant you some form of shooting agent status. webber
Vince Green
You can put a gun on more than one ticket its not a problem. My .308 is also on my mate in Wales ticket so I can leave it down there when I want.
Billy.
As said, you can't just take your dad on land that he has no permission on. The landowner will not want someone shooting who he or she hasn't met/or got to know to the point that they're happy to give shooting rights to. You should head up to the landowner with a bottle of whisky, a Christmas card and your dad in tow. Try asking then

webber
If the land owner is happy for you to be accompanied, you can take an observer, but he can't shoot. webber
Billy.
The 'closed' bit has nothing to do with who can and can't shoot, as has been said. Edited December 26, 2010 by Billy.

Colster
It doesn't matter if your dad (or you) has an open or closed FAC, if the land has been cleared for .243 then it's cleared for any one with a .243 provided the land owner is ok with them shooting there. As you have said the landowner is a mate, I'd imagine he'd be fine allowing your father permission to shoot. There is no legal problem with him shooting there as you have "occupier" status, so as long as your dad is accompanied by you and the landowners happy, go for it. Scully
An 'open' ticket means you can shoot over any land for which the owner gives you permission(providing the land has been approved for the calibre you intend to use),a 'closed' ticket means you can only shoot on the land specified on your FAC. kdubya
No. Your dad can watch, he can't shoot unless HE has an "open" ticket. webber if the land is passed for the calibre of gun he has, and he has deemed suitable on his ticket then sorry yes he can shoot no problem whatsoever, in fact he can shoot an any bit of land he is given permission to shoot should that land be already cleared, otherwise what the point of the "deemed suitable" condition. Nope. So long as you have permission it is up to the shooter to clear the land. I can shoot anywhere I have permission and the safety of the shot is down to me. As it should be. There's plenty of cleared land in the country with a lot of unsafe shots on it!

bignoel
permission is all you need on the land it is down to the open cert holder if he thinks the land is suitable for shooting . closed cert you can only shoot on land that has been passed by your fao for your calibre rifle .
