steve_b_wales
SG's don't normally hold a good pattern, but at short range, they are devastating. I would go for BB's or #1 shot. Do you have a 3" magnum shotgun? If so, then the magnum loads are excellent for foxes within normal range. Steve.

TJ91
Winchester double magnum xx no.4 very good pattern thorugh quarter and half choke hit a fox in the head or chest with them and he wont move again not sure how much they are now, havent bought any for years 36g BBs are a favourite amongst most who shoot on the driven fox days on my perms
al4x
SG's pattern badly and ricochet badly, having used them on quarry you needed them for legally wise they will knock them down if you're lucky but you really don't want to hit anything solid with them as they will bounce back. anything between 1's and 4's is ideal, I shoot most with 6's but thats because they are in the gun at the time

henry d
When you says normal ranges,do you mean 25-30 yards? Depends on the load, some 3" loads are buffered copper plated shot(2`s & 4`s US) and are devastating at longer ranges with tight chokes. Best to pattern the load with your own gun and be sure of what your capabilities are, the above load is a tight pattern and you may miss or injure at less than 25yds.
