Billy.
I know there's a large audience of iPhone users on here so I thought I might share something which has just turned up trumps for a recent claim I had to make on the insurance for my iPhone. Long story short I seriously ruined my iPhone 3GS by getting it water damaged. I filled out the claim form and sent the phone off. £30 and a week later, I got my phone back - new screen and home button. I contacted the insurer to complain that the water damage sensors were still triggered; One at the bottom of the headphone jack and the other underneath the USB plug. They assured me it was under a new warranty and I thought nothing of it. Managed to pick up an iPhone 4, so obviously I wanted to sell my old 3GS. No one would take it because the indicators were saying it was damaged. I called the insurers and they said to just "tell the buyer it's not broken" - like they'll believe that! One call to Apple and they confirmed that no iPhone which is water damaged should ever be repaired and sent back out, as there is a huge risk of future issues arising. I took this up with the insurer and they must've had a chat with Apple, as they paid out the equivalent of an iPhone 4 and apologised profusely. So a heads up for next time you need to claim Edited January 6, 2011 by Billy.

The other option which maybe of interest is a bank account with extras. My bank, for £10 a month, gives car breakdown insurance, phone insurance and travel insurance. I'm a picky ****** and made sure the policies were up to the job.

Billy.
I get mine through Lloyds bank. Lifestyle Group provide the insurance and for a tenner a month I get AA cover, travel insurance, phone cover and decent interest on my current account. Lifestyle Group do seem to get bad press though.. The reviews online are pretty bad, so if I managed to get the above from them, they can't be that bad! ballybricken
Don't use protectmybubble ... Took me nearly a month and cost me nearly £300 before they replaced mine.

I get something simular, i bank with First Direct and have something called First Directory, this gives me Travel Insurance (whole family), breakdown cover and phone cover. I have used the travel insurance twice, first one about £400 medical, second time stuck in Florida during ash cloud about £2000. Breakdown used once and phone cover once. I can recommend this service and go as far as to say they are great, never tried to get out of anything. Worth the £12.00 per month

Breastman
Here you go buddy £5.99 a month ,£1 a month extra to cover loss .Bleddy site cheaper then those rip off merchants in Vodafone etc. http://www.protectyourbubble.com/ip-iphone-insurance.html +£75 excess if you lose it! There's simply no cheap way to insure iPhones on their own, its a nightmare. I upgraded my 'normal' mobile to an iPhone last year and my £5 per month no excess policy came with it. LAte last year i managed to smash my iphone in my car's boot So i calimed, got the new phone within 24hrs and everything was hunky-dorey. Then about a month later i got a letter from O2 saying "for my convienence" they were whacking on a £150 excess fee if i claim again Since then i've been looking for a cheap way to insure it. I've not heard of that bank insurance before so i might look into that. I've got partial cover on my house insurance but the excess for that is £100 Mark Edited January 7, 2011 by Breastman
Billy.
Mark Lloyds bank is a £30 excess, which is perfectly acceptable
Guest
Mines just been insured with my bank too, not sure if there is any excess? But £5 a month is good considering what I just been through. My iPhone 4 had to go back after a spillage on a table. It wasn't even soaked, just a bit in the dock connector. Bit kitchen roll to mop a few drops, no water damage flagged up, but over the next 2 months it started to drop calls, then wi fi, then the mic started to not work, to the point it was unusable. Vodafone wanted £150! First they said the connector was broken, then water damage, then the connector was rotted. Which just happens to be Apples standard out of warranty repair charge. Told them to poke it, and to return the phone for me to take to an independent evaluator. Anyway, out of the kindness of there hearts they dropped it to £75. Done, new phone back, and peace of mind it is now insured.
