Hi All I've just brought a set of All terrain tyres, now a friend has offered me a set of Mud terrain tyres

I don't do a mega amount of miles, although the girlfriend has booked a few days at a caravan park at Bideford (Devon) for her birthday in June, (is Bideford ok)

Any way what do you chaps think do i stick with what tyres i've got or change.

I use my truck, a Isuzu trooper long wheel base 7 seater of road at weekends + couple of times a month lamping. Many Thanks Smokey Oakey

Guest Mr Pieman

I have mud terrains on my Suzuki. Goes anywhere and has twice towed out a Landrover that got stuck on the farm! The Landrover had all terrain tyres. Best option is to decide what you want to drive over. If its really rough or sticky go for the muds.

Cheers

PP

PS I also occasionally run up to Grimsby in the Suzuki from time to time- once a month. Tyre wear is good and the road noise isn't enough to worry about - just turn the radio up two clicks  I got 70 000 miles out of my last set of muds

Horses for courses.

Serious mud pluggers wont get you round a slight bend on tarmac, but will have you up a 40% incline.

There is no one tyre that does all, thats how old rooster can go on and on about pulling out brand new landies from mud in his jap pedal car :o

We all compromise.

I have Goodyear Mud Terrains on my Isuzu and I dont really get a massive amount of road noise from them.

They perform well on dry or wet roads and are awesome off road in the mud, or for rock climbing, you let the pressures down to about 20psi.

These tyres are really robust.

I've got A/T's on my fourtrack or the paupers equivalent from Colway ;)

not a bad tyre till the going gets very bad and on road they are very good. I bought it with a proper set of A/T's on and had the purchase receipt and they did 50K so guess its possible. My ones at the mo have done 15K and hardly look worn at all

GET ONE OF THESE ON THE THE FRONT OF YOUR 4X4 AND YOU'LL NEVER GET STUCK...NOT THE BEST OF PICS BUT WINCHES CAN BE A GOD SEND

Mind keep the bonnet up when using the winch or you could have the windscreen to repair after you get the machine out the mud!!
