I have a Desire too. Wouldn't swap it for an iphone. Battery life on all the large screen smart phones is obviously poor compared to the handsets with much smaller screens. A lot depends on the features you switch on - with BT, WIFI, GPS etc. all enabled it will not last a full day with moderate use (calls and browsing etc.)

When I was abroad at the back end of last year I switched most of the features off and it sat happily on stand-by for several days (I took a separate handset for use with a local SIM card) with very little use.

My missus has the wildfire and it's a great little phone, I'm a bit jealous that my current contract isn't finished until May actually! Battery life isn't great, but she turns most things like wifi and 3g off to help preserve them. I'll be getting a Desire I think!

Big yes for the HTC Desire HD. I have one an its a cracker of a phone. Battery life is a bit iffy like. I usually charge mine twice daily

if i use it regualar for the internet an stuff. But if just using for regualar phone calls an texts, once a day should be enough. And its

pretty easy to use from the start, though the touch screen will need to get a little used too, being very sensitive to those not used to it.

the main problem i had with my last touch screen was the phone unlocking itself while in my pocket...and somehow always managed to egt on the internet and ran up the bill!

do the HTC stay locked when knocked about in pocket?

I have the desire also, cant fault it. . . . . . . apart from not being able to log into Pigeonwatch

I'm logged in with mine at the moment (but using a computer to post as it's obviously much easier) - what version you running.

I added the "call confirm" app which was a god send to me as before that I was forever making calls unintentionally :good:

Just enable the screen lock - works a treat and you'd have to be real unlucky to unintentionally unlock it whilst in your pocket as you need to swipe a sequence to activate it once locked (keeps my kids off it too).

looking at contracts now, trying to find the best deal

unlimited internet = 1gb fair usage policy?

any ideas how many days/hrs i would have to be on net to use that up?

say if i was just browsing through here and putting up posts?

Not got the htc but got the samsung galaxy s, these phones share the problem of poor battery life when running apps/browsing internet. To solve this problem i purchased a larger battery off flea bay-twice the size of the original for just £9.99 delivered, came with a different rear cover to acomadate the larger size battery. phone lasts twice (funny that) as long now. And if im away on the bike for the weekend i take the original as backup just in case (lot smaller than taking the charger). Would have thought you can get the same set up for the htc. :good:

Got a wildfire - best phone by far and the internet/e-mail etc is brill. The battery life is short and I tend to find I charge it every day - the good thing is HTC provide a standard phone charger that is also a computer wire so you can charge it via your pc. There are so many cool apps to add to personalise it as well (but I suppose all phones do that).
