Country estate head gamekeeper charged

The head gamekeeper at the Holkham Estate has been charged with a string of offences after an investigation by police following the death of a wild bird.

Nicholas Parker, 41, of Main Road, Holkham, has been suspended from his job at the country estate since the allegations came to light last year.

 

Police said he has been charged with killing a schedule one wild bird, taking game out of season, possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate, possessing a shotgun or rifle for committing a wildlife offence, possessing a shotgun without a certificate and a charge of contravening the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

 

Parker has been released on bail to appear before King’s Lynn magistrates on Wednesday February 9.

I suspect that there is more to this than we are being told at the moment! :hmm: Let's wait till we have some more details before we offer too many comments!

Funnily enough I am waiting for a phone call from Ian Clark as I write this!

I would say so as well, from a quick google he worked on the estate since 2008. Taking game out of season could be catching up after the season ended. The firearms offences could be technicalities and breaches of conditions from those wordings, this quote is interesting "possessing a shotgun or rifle for committing a wildlife offence" so maybe he did take the odd BOP but all we are hearing is what the RSPB are saying and they are notoriously iffy

No thought not :lol: :lol:

 

Not too sure on that one! Ian Clark of SACS does not spell his name with an "e" on the end, but this could easily just be a typing error, who knows?
