Farmer-of-the-Futre
Hello guys! I am thinking of getting a .22lr semi auto for my first rifle. My dad used to have one and he seemed to get on alright with it shooting bunnies. I think shooting our little fluffy friends will be all i will shoot. I Have found that Ruger 10/22 are one of the most popular semi .22s and they seem to be reas? And should i buy new or second-hand? I have also heard about the CZ semis but i seem to be drawn to the 10/22s
Scully
My first .22 rifle was a semi-auto,a Remington.Great little gun. If you fancy a 10/22 then get one,one of the most popular .22's ever produced.Be aware you'll be throwing empties all over the place, however,so if you need to pick up your empties it's something to bear in mind.Enjoy yourself. Vince Green
Not the best but probably the most fun. A bolt action would be better and more accurate. But if you want a Ruger go for it. Don't ignore the target shooting aspects though, lots and lots of fun shooting potential there if you can find the right club.
CZ550Kevlar
I have a target version and it works well for rabbits and range work but it is heavy so i`m looking at getting a 10/22 standard version but is it only me that finds the whole barrel band on the 10/22 just plain ugly? the first thing im going to do is remove the stock and replace with an svd type one to cut the weight down. I wanted a remmington 597 but the one i wanted got sold and all the choice i have now is either a CBC magtec or 10/
bullet boy
I got a Ruger 10/22 Carbine.I fitted it with a Black Hogue rubber stock and i'm very happy with it.I know my mate Steve B Wales on here had a Rem 597 semi and he got rid of that and bought a 10/22.My Dad also has a 10/22 and he loves his also! Farmer-of-the-Futre
Yep im pretty set on a 10/22 If the stock isnt to bad i will leave it but mabey after a couple of years i might buy a houge synthetic stock as yes i think the barrel band does bring the gun's looks down for me. Also would anyone reccomend changing any parts? People always seem to be getting a lengthened mag release and the different bolt release. Im sure i wil just have to see but are these good changes to make and are the parts easy to fit? Thanks lads!
The Burpster
Hmmm changing parts on a 10/22..... thats a whole new thread. I had a 10/22 and will reflect that above, it was good fun. It wasnt a particularly good rifle in std form. Bt the time I finished it the only std part left was the receiver. If you are a capable and confident tinkerer then modding a 10/22 is pretty damn easy. The skys the limit on what you can or indeed should change tho'... robc89
I bought a 10/22 off a guy on here and have loved every minute of it. I had a bolt action BRNO before that which was very trusty but for me the 10/22 does the job everytime. I have been shooting golf courses and found I needed some more range so bought a wmr but when driving round the fields or walking its always the 10/22. I even took it to a rifle range and some pretty good groups with winchester subs. I know some owners will say their 10/22 is ammo fussy but mine seems to cycle everything. Id go for it, infact wasnt there one on here for sale for like £125?
welshwarrior
Join the 10/22 Club I love them and so do the others I know who shoot them one is blinged the othe (gamekeeper) totally standard. Mine has a Hogue stock for the added length and longer mag release and Bolt catch. simple clean lines

There are a few VERY simple mods and cheap replacements that can be done to get the 10/22 a bit nicer to use: Change recoil buffer pin for a polymer one. This will reduce the noise of the action. You can grind a section of the bolt release mech to avoid having to faff about with the bolt catch when reloading. Hammer/sear can be polished to make the trigger a bit lighter: http://www.greatwestgunsmithing.com/1022%20trigger%20job%20high.html Polish bolt Countless mods, extra bits and pieces available. Loads of videos and tutorials on youtube too.
